New 64 SWB Fleet w/BBW
Dangit! I'm not done with my 66 and I go and stumble into this deal.
Suggestions? 3 on the tree, interior resprayed the same blue color as exterior. Original 283 is gone, but notice the 501 in the bed. It came from Missouri in 98 and has been stored in a garage for the last 10 years as a project that never happened. New tires - well, new 10 years ago The bed is in the best unrestored condition I have seen in my short history with these trucks - and it doesn't seem to have any filler in it. The only real rust looks like the usual spots on the doors and front fenders. Looks like someone worked on the rockers, but I can't tell if it is filler or not (didn't look too hard). So, I'm trying to figure out if I should sell it as-is, part it out or put and engine back in it and drive it for awhile and then sell it. |

Re: New 64 SWB Fleet w/BBW
I am well aware of the stress's and inconveniences this new truck will bring your way .. not to mention the strain on your marriage and loss of precious drivway space.. also the finacial strain that it will put on your budget for your other truck... The possible indecision of not knowing what parts to steal from it for your other truck and render it worthless........................... I will be up tomorrow to pick it up ....
What did you do , buy 2 , It looks like another one popped up beside it ... man you have a problem... I can get that one gone for you too... |

Part it out would and should be a crime. NO WAY restore it or pass it along to a good home. It deserves to placed back on the road.

Re: New 64 SWB Fleet w/BBW
unless you REALLY want a 501 in it.... I'd sell that to recoup some of your investment, keep the truck and then go from there. It'll never "be" original without the original engine, so your options are wide open. Were it my SECOND 60-66, I'd take my time and make it look original on the outside (already has a sweet body on it) and then do an LS conversion with a tremec or 700R4 etc. (i.e. sell the 3-speed also to save a few bucks - no reason to keep it, truck not original). That's my 2 cents! By the way - how's about an original orange and white two tone with the champagne interior. but I'm just sayin....

Re: New 64 SWB Fleet w/BBW
Well, for now, I'm buying back the 283 out of my 66 to drop in and get it driving, but it'll be a side project with minimal investment (hopefully).
I may sell it, though, the BBW would work on my 66, but then it wouldn't be a66 anymore... |

From one Michigander to another, keep it if you can and own both trucks. I'd sell the 501 to recoup some money but to have a classic that solid here in the salt belt..... plus it's a short fleet BB window!

Re: New 64 SWB Fleet w/BBW
that looks to be a really straight truck... I'd build if it were mine. LS or a BBC. Do a prostreet build if ya go BBC or a protouring truck with a 6.0/t56.
