rear end
have a chance to pick up a 70 P/U c10 1/2 rear end, 3:73 gears, does anyone know what the measurement is wheel face to wheel face? going in a 53 3100, trying to get rid of the closed drive line, so i can drive at least 60. no don't want a 3:90.

That one is a bit too wide for the AD trucks. Unless you ran a positive offset wheel the tires would be partially out of the wheel well.
Here is one link to a list of rear end widths. http://www.carnut.com/specs/rear.html I put a 56 half ton rear end under a 53 pickup a few years ago and the width was just right when he used stock steel wheels on it. I think he used the 15 inch 56 wheels. |

56" from wheel mounting surfaces is perfect for these trucks. I found an early bronco 9" with a traction lock and 3.50s for mine.
