Anyone have a crossover on their 4x4 Blazer.

I would like to add one to quiet things down and help my Blazer sound less like a tractor but I can't see where one could be routed.

I run a H pipe..right behind the transfer case...

The only pics I could find...thoes are 50s Flowmasters

Thanks for the pictures, looks like it has to go behind the transfer case, it would be interesting to see how they did the single exhaust originally, it is pretty tight up under the engine to have a pipe go across.

So does the pipe make a noticeable difference?

Not sure. I swaped out my 350 and put in a EFI454 and new exahust so...it's like a whole new truck and sound

I heard alot of positive comments about H-pipe or X-pipe and from what I read yer suppose to stay closer to the collecters than I am but thats all the room I had for one. Mine is a quite rumble at idle but it still RAPPPPS when you hit the trottle

My old 350 was hella loud with 2chamber flows...kinda sucked trying to sneak into a camground at 1am so I went for something quiet down low.

looks like a 'H' pipe would be the easiest to fit, maybe with flanges or 'V' band clamps

Did you guys hear a big difference in the sound of your exhaust with the h-pipe? Anyone try to fit an x-pipe? I really want my exhaust to have that non-pulsing low rumble that I associate with crossovers. I have been told by different people with the blazers short exhaust and with the inability to install it closer to the manifolds that it doesnt make any sound difference.....just wondering what you experience is.

Mine is exactly like this one, although not as shiny anymore, it was done back in the mid 90's

It's really the easiest and most convient place to put one. It toned my exhaust down quite a bit and took the cackle out of it. Still a little more throaty than I want but that's due to the Mac Mufflers on there.

Got mine done last weekend, for anyone that is looking to get it done I got an exhaust place to make up a 2 ft long pipe with a 25 degree bend in the middle. Got it for free too since they got a good laugh out of the 2x3 pieces of wood screwed together I gave them as a template.

It is a bit quieter, didn't do as much as I hoped, although it seems to run smoother now.

I still have a tractor type of sound at cruising speed that I am not happy with. I have Walker mufflers which are apparently the quietest turbo mufflers that exist on it with new 2 1/4" pipes

Yes Walker makes very quiet turbo mufflers. I haven't personally used them for years so I can't remember how they sounded exactly, but that tractor sound you describe isn't too appealing

I've been using Pypes mufflers the last 2-3 years and I'm happy with the sound and performance. So much so, that I've been cutting off older mufflers on some of the cars that I've had for 25 years and welding Pypes mufflers in their place. I'm about ready to do the same thing on my blazer now, I'm tired of the Mac mufflers on there, it's a bit noisy under load.
Guess you get that way when you get old
