how low can you go?
got a 69 swb all factory suspension, looking to bag it while its frame off. question is how low can i get with just installing bag on fact. set up with a c or z notch in the rear. This will be my first attempt at this, i have been reading the forms to see what others have done. but know one has really said how low they can get it with fact. set up. i know it will not lay frame but houw low will it go?

They'll drop until the lower control arms hit the ground (w/stock arms, they're the 1st things that hit). This will typically leave the frame rails several inches (2-3) above the ground.

So if i c or z the rear, and bag it fbss. Could I just weld in some stops to acheive a ride hieght or eliminate the arms from grounding out and still be abut 2'' or close from ground zero? I know spindles are the way to go and will change them out later with brake/disc upgrade just want to get my bags going for now will this be unsafe or a bad idea, money is always the problem or should i say the hold up.

Even w/spindles, the lower a-arms will be the first thing to make contact w/the ground. At that point, you'll still be more than 2" from the ground @ the frame rails.

The fewer corners, the fewers areas for stress related failures to start. Round gets the vote if/when possible....

I would have to agree, the cups look as if they would be a lot easier to build too. Would you know if there is a standard cup size or if they vary with bag manufactures?

Since front bag sizes vary, you'll want to go as big as possible (8" dia is where I would start).

You talking about the round cups? and other than the existing bolt hole your suggesting I drill one or more hole to allow drainage from the lower portion of the cup?

Scott what size bags do you recomend f v/s b? i think the kit im looking at is same all way around, not real sure. I'm going to look but would like your input. they are airlift D2600 all four do you know the diamiter of the base of these bags?

63-72 GM 1/2 ton truck = ~7" bags in front (RE-7's or Firestone F6783/224c or equivalent); ~6" bags in the rear (RE-6's or F6781/255c Stones).
63-87 fronts are the same recommendation. Rear leaf trucks need an AOL set-up or suspension swap for bags.

I got D2600 air lifts all around on mine. Front has 2.5" drop spindles and rear has 2" blocks with a c-notch, nothing else to make it lower. This is how low it gets with a 29" tall tire, so a shorter tire/wheel combo will yield a lower stance. The stance is pretty level without the cupped LCAs.
I have a set of cupped LCAs, but I haven't redone my exhaust in order to use them. Right now I can air it out without dragging the long tube headers. Also, the Air Lift D2600 balloon out pretty far, so something a little bigger than 8 inches is better if you end up cupping the LCAs. I went with the rectangular type since they allowed a bigger opening.
