1984 swb c10
Just got home from picking up the new project! She is a 1984 SWB C10. She is straight as an arrow, and purr's like a kitten!
It has a freshly rebuilt 305 with a 350 trans. It is completely bone stock too. From the emissions, to the beauty rings, to the old steel bumper out back! I dang near stole it too. Paid $2600 for it from a very nice older gentleman. Plans for it are to go through the front end and replace any bushings, balljoints, etc and give the brakes a tune up. Then, she will be getting lowered. Thinking about 2.5" spindles and 1" springs for the front. For the rear, I am thinking a bolt on KP 4-link and a ChassisWorks coilover kit welded in. Anyhow, here are a few quick pictures from my wife's cell phone. I will take more with my camera and put them up here later.

Re: 1984 swb c10
No new pictures, but figured I would update anyhow! So far, I have put new shocks on on all four corners, and new brake pads up front. New windshield has been put in, and I finally got it inspected.
I have cruised it around yesterday and today, and it drives pretty well! It sure as heck feels like an old farm truck though. Stiff as can be! Hopefully this will be changing soon though! The quadrajet is pretty worn it seems. It likes to bog at times when opening up the secondaries, and it tends to idle a little high as if the throttle plate is sticking. I also put a new set of plugs and wires on it and removed most of the emissions stuff. Nothing else has been done so far. I picked up a nice '76 C10 for the boy's first truck and we have been wrenching on it to make it street worthy. It is now good to go, so back to this truck! I just ordered a bunch of goodies for it tonight, and should be here soon! Here is a list of what is coming: Hedman 69890 Elite Headers Holley 4160 600cfm carb Holley square bore to spread bore adapter Holley Transmission Kickdown Bracket Holley Carb Jet Kit Proform air cleaner kit Moog OEM replacement coil springs Western Chassis 2.5in drop spindles Western Chassis 4in. drop leaf springs

Re: 1984 swb c10
Oh yeah.. I forgot that my brother bought me a set of header mount Purple Hornet's.. I know it is going to be ridiculous, and I will probably fab up a few feet of pipe to move the mufflers closer to the rear end.
This exhaust will be only temporary, since it is cheap. I have not totally decided what I want to do with the exhaust yet. More than likely, I will probably end up putting some Magnaflows on it to keep it mild. More than likely the boy will beg me to death for the purple hornies, since he is young and wants his truck really loud. LOL! I remember those days!

Re: 1984 swb c10
Thanks everybody!
I have been tinkering with the truck but need to take some pictures. I have a whole truckload of parts, just need the time to install them all now! So far, I have mounted up a set of long tube Hedman coated headers. Still need to bend the brake lanes back to clear a bit on the passenger side. My tubular transmission crossmember should show up any day now. New 15x6 and 15x10 rallies will be here this week as well. Tonight, I just picked up a set of Mickey Thompson Street Radials for it. They are 26x8R15 for the front and 28x12R15 for the rear. I have a pile of new stuff waiting.. new Holley 600cfm carb, adapter plate for the carb. New stock front springs, all new stainless steel exhaust parts. Going to run dual 2.5 inch exhaust with no crossover pipe into Pypes Street Pro mufflers with turndowns. All the clamps and hangers are S/S as well. That is all waiting for the trans crossmember to show up. As well, I got new stock height front springs waiting. I bought some 2.5in McGaughy drop spindles and 4" leaf springs from them as well which are on back order. Should be here in another two weeks. Once that gets here, I will rebuild the frontend at the same time. I think that is everything! Here is a quick picture of the new tires..

Re: 1984 swb c10
The rear wheels and center caps showed up today! Front wheels should be here tomorrow!
I also picked up a few tube bending tools from my buddy last night when I picked the tires up from him so that I can pull the passenger header back off and take care of the brake lines that are touching.

Re: 1984 swb c10
Thank ya! =)
The transmission crossmember came in today! This piece is NICE! Much thicker wall thickness than I was expecting for sure. Welds are clean, and the powder coated finish is very nice! Tomorrow, I am taking the wheels and tires to get mounted up and will roll the truck out with the new shoes on when I get back to make room for the boy's truck. We have to rebuild the front end on his truck before we start on mine.

Re: 1984 swb c10
I will take some pics of the rims once I get it back out of the garage. LOL
It has been slow going lately because of many other projects going on. I had to take the truck out so we could rebuild the front end on the boys truck. After that, we put new floors and base boards in throughout the house. Then, the daughters durango started having over heating issues. New radiator on the way for it. Anyhow, not much has happened on MY truck lately. I have taken out the old transmission crossmember, and got the new one mostly into place. It is a very tight fit but it has only about another inch to go to be where it needs to be. First, I need to take the transmission mount off and bolt it to the crossmember so I can hammer it the rest of the way into place. Then, I will drill the holes to bolt it up. I replaced the high pressure line on the power steering, and proceded to spill power steering fluid all over the front of the engine when trying to fill it back up. ACK! The only other accomplishment has been taking off the rest of the extra vacuum line mess. In the process of doing that, I broke one of the barbs off of the cruise control thingamabob. I was contemplating keeping cruise control or not.. that makes that decision easy! LOL Hopefully this weekend I can get the trans bolted up the rest of the way, and the new exhaust all bolted up as well. The only thing after that is to bend the lines touching the passenger side header, and swap the carb out. I can't wait to drive it again!!

Re: 1984 swb c10
Update time! Here is a quick rundown:
Transmission crossmember installed New carb installed Exhaust installed Radiator flush Here are a few video's the old lady took with her camera after I got it up and running, the carb still needs some adjusting. I think the accelerator pump cam needs to be adjusted and/or a bigger squirter because she has a small flat spot on acceleration and then smooths out and gets down. =) Oh, and for anyone who is wondering.. I went with Pypes Street Pro mufflers.

Re: 1984 swb c10
I have been slacking on updates! Nothing huge to report... other than a new fuel pump, and power steering pump installed as well as some carb tuning.
I noticed a smell of gas in the oil, after seeing gas seeping out around the flange. So, new pump went in. It was definitely warn out. The power steering pump blew the main seal after putting the new high pressure line in, so I swapped the pump. As far as carb tuning, I picked up a few accelerator pump cam's to play with. To get rid of the off idle hesitation, only the blue cam worked yet it was still flat in the mid range. So, I picked up a larger squirter, and now the blue cam seems to be dumping too much fuel, and the pink and orange I tried are not enough. A whole new kit of cam's will be here tomorrow, so hopefully I can get it totally squared away finally!

Re: 1984 swb c10
Man, I havn't updated this in a while! Not a whole bunch of new stuff going on. I did get the carb and timing tuned up well though. My initial timing was set at 6 degrees, and I bumped it up to 11 before it didn't like anymore.
Window tint was installed, I need to take some new pics of that when the weather isn't so nasty! 30% on the doors, and I think 5% on the rear.. whatever the darkest Texas allows by law. A few new goodies are showing up as well! After five months of waiting, my drop spindles finally showed up! Soon to be installed.. 2.5" drop spindles, 4" drop leaf springs, complete front end rebuild, and sway bars front and back! Here are a few pics of new parts trickling in.. Please excuse the cell phone quality!
