395/85r20 michelin xml 46" Anyone use them?
I am building a 84 k10 LWB. Its gonna have dana 60 front axle and dana 70 rear with 587 gears. Built 454/400th/np205 t-case. This truck isnt gonna be a rock crawler. The most it will ever see is mud and mud is usually more friendly on parts then hard wheeling. Mostly gonna be a show off truck since I sold my 96 z71 on 38s. Does anyone run these military tires on light trucks? they are 395/85R20 MICHELIN XML and are 46" tall and fit a 20" rim. You can get a set of them for around $600 bux and thats a hell of a lot cheaper then any other swamper. I know they are REALLY heavy so I was wondering if anyone knows of anyone using them. THANKS

They are awesome. Unfortunately, finding the 16" rim versions are rather difficult.

I seem to remember reading that they are 330 pounds each, so add 1300 pounds to your rig, plus a huge rotational mass increase and figure on brake upgrades and you should be ok. The larger contact patch is going to stress your steering too. I think several of the Top Truck Challange trucks ran them a few years back, and most of them were set up with 2.5 ton rockwells. Full lock turning radius may also disappear if the tire contacts the front springs. Curious to see your setuop if you do decide to go this route, a full set of tires for 800 bucks is tempting to me too.

they stiff has hell lol. just sold a set about a month ago. yeah make sure you go with the smallest amount of backspacing you can. most 20 inch wheels i ve seen had 5 or 6 inches of backspacing and that'll cause a prob with steering. i had a k5 with the 49 iroks and i went with the 16.5x14 with 3 inches of backspacing and had no problem. and yes they heavy as hell too. good luck with your build. i got some 60 and 14 bolt parts also if you was to need some.
