Re: Need help locating something like this!
most hardware stores have something just like em, minus the tapered end.
(They'll be in the bin sections... sometimes near spacers or specialty hardware) They have em in different lengths, but they're probably around a grade 5 Should run a couple bucks each. Then just grab some nuts. (Whoa.... whoa....) Tadda |

If that is a parking brake cable, you might want to try www.inlinetube.com
Here is a link to their parking brake stuff: http://www.inlinetube.com/Brake%20Ca...ngs/cables.htm |

Re: Need help locating something like this!
Yes this is for an emergency brake cable. The picture is from the Lokar website.
One end has a place for the cable to slide into and is secured by two set screws, the other end is completely threaded so i can adjust the tension for the e-brake. I have looked in most of the hardware stores in my area and nobody carries anything close to it and if it looks like it will work then its VERY thin and I wouldn't use it for my e-brakes.

Re: Need help locating something like this!
IMe thinks that is a Lokar product, the same with the cables at the carb for adjustments.
So there art two allen screws to depend on in case of a emergency! I think I will stich with Control Cables!

Re: Need help locating something like this!
I actually talked to somebody at Lokar today. Unfortunetly they don't just sell that piece, you have to buy the whole cable assembly. Go figure!
Solidaxel - Have you looked at todays vehicles? The cable end that connects to the actuator is only aluminum, and anyone who uses the Lokar cables has the same set screws. So either way its only for emergency use only.

Re: Need help locating something like this!
When I worked at the parts store we some some long threaded nuts. I can't remember what they were called or what they were used for. There were with the studs. I bet you could take on of those and rethread it to suit your needs.

Re: Need help locating something like this!
Try a marine type store or website in the sailboat standing rigging section. There are fittings for attaching threaded studs to cable. West Marine or Defender Industries has these items. something like this may help.

Re: Need help locating something like this!
Thats a pretty easy part to make even at home with simple tools.if you want the tapered end rig it up to spin on grinding wheel and finish it off in a drill press

Re: Need help locating something like this!
I have used both companies are one point or another for custom cables or pieces I needed made. For my 58 I needed a cable to go from a Ford cable to the original cross bar. They had the C connector and made the short adjuster cable for me.

Maybe Aircraft Spruce could help. Just searched for tierods and found tons of sizes.

Re: Need help locating something like this!
I took the cables, my measurements, and a picture of what I needed to a local wire rope shop. They actually had a metal stud that they crimped onto the cable and I'm up and running.
Thanks for all the tips and help guys.
