61 Apache C20 short fleet!

My neighbor has this truck he is offering me for 3k worth of barter work. Do you guys think its worth it? It has a Gm Goodwrench 350 in it with the 4 speed and I believe an Eaton rear. Its a pretty solid truck, only rust I could find (other than surface rust) is on the inner fenders where they bolt to the radiator support, bottom of the rt side rocker and door skin, left side inner fender brace and a few other possible spots that had a very poor repair attempt with filler. The bed is especially solid, as is the cab floor, but has 50 years worth of dings and dents. Its currently registered and drivable in good running condition.
Should I jump on it? Whats it worth approx?

I would be on it...price does not seem high to me. I have seen 61's in my area in far worse shape for similar money. Full disclosure - I own and love the 61! gpk1961

Absolutely worth it in my book. That looks like a very solid truck and it's a desirable year (ok, they all are, but you know what I mean - looks like it's got all its stuff still attached. Love the bugeye!) But if he tells you it's a shortbed, I might not believe everything he's tellin ya....

(Sure looks like a longbed to me (I see middle stake pockets) - and I'm not positive, but I don't think 3/4 tons were available with a shortbed anyway)

Hmm, no he never said it was a short bed, it just looked like it to me? How long is the bed supposed to be? I am much more familiar with the 67-72 years.

Easily worth $3000. I paid that for mine and it wasn't in that good of shape. That is definitly a long bed...but that is not a bad thing. the long beds are totally cool too!

If it's as straight and has as little rust as it looks like in the pictures, it's a winner in CT. Man it's tough to find a decent truck around here...
