Re: 1965 C class vs '62 1/2 ton?
The seat seems a little high, but one should look and sit on the seat to see how it feels. I spent $500.00 rebuilding my seat on my 66, that does not include any labor. These seats are very weak around perimeter, here is what we did to mine.
1. Replaced all broken springs, sandblasted the frame and all components, painted with silver por 15 2. added seatolators top and bottom (piano wire reinforcing new style) hog ringed it in. 3. Added coarse floor insulation (heavy batting) and hog ringed it into place 4. covered the seat with foam 1" soft foam 2" dense hard foam then glued it on and then shaved it to the proper contours. 5. under the perimeter of the seat we cut long triangles of dense foam (glued black mat type material to is so it would not fall apart) 6. Then we installed a premade vinyl cover in dark gray. The only reason I went into such detail was so you could see the value of the seat. If it is all firm and nice then it will be easy to recover and use. If is is all loosy goosey then you should purchase it on the cheap.........Kieth here are some pictures: just click next to see them (I did not take detailed step by step pictures) http://kieth.smugmug.com/Trucks/66-G...89634100_Mr3hk here is a look underneath after we rebuilt the seat base... http://kieth.smugmug.com/Trucks/66-G...40205255_7tv2t here you can see the perimeter bolsters and the insulating material before the foam went on. After the foam went on there was so much foam that had to be ground off and it was such a mess I just did not get a picture. http://kieth.smugmug.com/Trucks/66-G...40205283_jSLVa here is the seat after we finished it but before we did final installation: http://kieth.smugmug.com/Trucks/66-G...49354994_W6NaW |

I spent 180 for the 1961 factory material and 300 for the shop to do it, but it's as close to factory as you can possibly get. You can spend a ton of money on upholstery.
