side mount spare filler panel??

Let's just say I had an AD truck - a 54 or 55.1, for example, and that I wanted to punt my unsightly side-mount spare (ok, that's MY opinion of it anyway... ) but also didn't want to leave the big divot in the driver side rear fender where the spare "used to be" -

Does anyone know where someone may sell a filler panel that can be patched in to cover up that dent?

Or - anywhere that sells steel fenders (as a backup - prefer to keep the original in this case - lookin at a 55.1)
Thanks gents.

Re: side mount spare filler panel??

I am doing that on my 54 right now. Last year at the Kalamazoo Mich. NSRA swap meet---I asked a few of the sellers who had AD parts---If they might have a rotted out fender that could be cut and used as a filler. I found a guy who had a junk fender. He cut that section out for me and shipped it to me. I bet someone on this forum has a junk fender they might help you out with.

If it is the stock cut out for the spare and not someone's hack job there are lots of people that are looking for just that fender. Maybe a trade could be worked out with one of them, their fender for yours.

Re: side mount spare filler panel??

thanks guys, great point! Now don't everyone go hacking their shiny fenders just yet! I got a little more detail on the truck I am looking at - turns out its A-pillars are pretty rotted out, which is a shame, because the rest of the truck is darn nice.
But good points all - when/if the time comes, I'll look for an interested trader!
