cab roof lights

I couldn't resist buying these lights from 97Gase when he said he was going to remove them from his truck. I think they are very cool and you just don't see them much on our trucks. I plan on installing them on my 66. What do you guys think of these?

Re: cab roof lights

theres a 60-66 truck running around my area with them on and i think they look really good! i bought this one on ebay for a 3rd brake light in my car project! i searched for info on them and only found a little bit. mines a Do-ray no.410 there is other company's that made same style or a little different like cabco. no.410 and yankee 77 model... forgot some of the name's.the o.g. ones were glass lens and came in red or amber.

the one's you have pictured..is either a CABCO. NO.410 or a DO-RAY NO.410, I believe DO-RAY was the replacement for the cabco. after they went out of business or the other way around.

Taillight king had some for sell at one point.you have to goto the truck and trailer section and then to Amber/Yellow Miscellaneous Odd Shaped part and scroll to the bottom to see the cab over lights:

here's some pics i found:

and someone that had some for sale but dosent look like they have any anymore:

I'm going to paint them (or powder coat). They are shown to be an option for our trucks but I've rarely seen them on the small trucks. I've seen a few on the larger C30 and C50 rigs.

Re: cab roof lights

Losthope...on that one of yours and many I've looked up have the identical lens design but on these, which is hard to see on the pics, there are some almost scalloped looking lines on the metal casing.

Losthope, my dad has those on his Crew, they came with the truck and he had them cleaned up and chromed. not very easy to find good ones.

Re: cab roof lights

got a set on my c-30. only came with 3 but some big trucks have 5 in a 1-3-1 grouping. not sure why the difference but i like the 3 setup better.

Re: cab roof lights

If you ordered a truck with over a 8000lb GVW the 3 lights on top of the cab are required by law. They are called clearance lights, when a trailer is more than ?70" wide then they are required also.......Kieth

Re: cab roof lights

Here's a better pic of mine. Some slight surface rust but no pitting. I was planning on painting mine white to match my proposed roof color but after seeing the chrome I'm torn on which way to go. I'm going with minimal chrome. Painted bumpers, aluminum grill, no side or cab trim. What do you guys think?

Re: cab roof lights

I wonder if those would work for rear tail lights on a step side. either on the top or the side of the rear fender.

Re: cab roof lights

i think you should just paint them and if you dont like the outcome you could get them chromed later! the first picture here is a painted bezel
They kinda look like KD517'S metal bezel with Glass LS303 Lens, 8" long x 2 3/4" wide:

AND THERES SOME FOR SALE ON EBAY, they are about around the $30 a light range so depending on how much you payed you might have got a good deal i payed about $30 for mine.

Hey Reed, I'm happy to see that you finally surfaced. I'll be looking for pics of your truck. I've got pics posted on threads all over around here. I really think I need to start a build thread. I've just been too lazy to put it together.
