63 standard heater

Good morning I'm new to the forum, looking for some info I have a 63 short bed fleet side BBW. The heater controls were cut off at the face plate and I need to replace them, the panel has 4 openings but only 2 controls one is blower speed the other is floor and defrost. is there a temp control or just two working levers on the standard heater Thanks ( great forum)

welcome to the forum, you can get parts from places like classicparts.com or LMC - has good picture diagrams of parts also. yes there is no temp. control on the basic heaters just blower speed and floor or defrost adjustment, you will have to use the floor and window vents for temp. control

Re: 63 standard heater

Thanks for the replies I figured that's how the system worked, somebody snipped the tips off of the control arms so I can't put on new knobs will have to get new control arms and knobs ( can't figure out why they would cut those?)

Re: 63 standard heater

I thought there was temp control on the basic heaters - and the difference was the outside air blend door and set of levers vs. one cable you pull to adjust the temp and twist to run the fan... (?)

Re: 63 standard heater

I guarantee the tips were not "snipped", they broke off. It's extremely common. The cables bind up and the extra pressure exerted on the ends of the levers via the knobs snaps the end of the levers off.

Re: 63 standard heater

every set i've seen have been broken off, except maybe the fan switch (its not cable operated).i think the cables cease up and the aggrevated owner just loses it LOL
