Hood Pins / Locks
How do you secure your hood? I was thinking about adding hood pin locks and wondered if anyone else has done this...pics a plus!

Re: Hood Pins / Locks
Any car that I desire to have a locking hood I just convert to an inside hood release. Clean and simple.

Re: Hood Pins / Locks
It was an option throughout the middle and late 70's on trucks, my 79 C30 pickup has it optioned originally, that's what gave me the idea years ago. May have been on trucks earlier than that too. I know it was also an option on many passenger cars from the 60's and 70's and on up.
I go junk yard hunting and pull the entire hood latch and cable mechanism, usually only a few bucks. Then I bring it home and see what I need to modify, weld, cut, to make it work on that particular vehicle. It varies on what needs done or how involved it gets because it's a vehicle by vehicle basis for me, but it's pretty straight forward, not hard at all. |

Re: Hood Pins / Locks
No one has ever used hood pins on a 67-72?

Re: Hood Pins / Locks
Only when they were factory issue as in my chevelle and mustang. But they were never of the theft deterent type, with a pull pin setup.
I remember the locking hood pins however, used to sell them at speed shops all the time years ago. |

Re: Hood Pins / Locks
My 1970 has them installed on it from previous owner, I'm in the middle of a frame off restoration and dont know if I'm going to install them or weld the holes and smooth out the hood. If you'd like pictures of the hood pin installed on the core I can get them for you
