Newbie with my first Truck
Hi everyone, the names Cory and I just signed up for the board as I got my first truck a couple days ago. The truck is a 1988 Chevy Suburban Silverado - Heavy 1/2. Has the double shocks up front, 4x4, autolock hubs (ughh), rear air and all that fancy stuff.. bought it for $700 and I must say I'm rather excited to git'r road ready and fixed up.

As for plans, the first part is to repair the body damage that on it and take her apart to paint it with the stock two tone pattern but with the following colors; http://www.paintforcars.com/kitu_sapphireblue.html http://www.paintforcars.com/kitu_frostbluemetallic.html Also, I had considered doing some bedliner work on the undersides of the rocker panels and other places prone to rust. As for the rest I plan on dong any modifications on the motor and drivetrain that'll help fuel mileage, and putting a lift kit on it. Actually I already had a friend of my older brother offer to sell me a 6in lift kit for it... done know if I wanna go that high though. |

Re: Newbie with my first Truck
Looks like you pick up a good one, I didn't see a spec of rust, which is rare on these old squarebodies!

Re: Newbie with my first Truck
I know what you mean, my first vehicle was actually going to be a 70's model Burb with a 454. My dad and I had plans to start getting it ready to drive when he discovered it the floors were rotted to nothin'. However, 6-7 long years later I got another Burb and this ones a keeper. I'll just be glad when I can drive it on the road, just a bunch of small things that need done first though.
