C/R 30 Rear Spring Mounts
I am converting my 1991 1ton 4x4 to a 2wd. My question is, does anyone know if the LMC rear spring mounts are good quality or not? I priced them from my local GM dealer and it about scare't me. Well over 6 bills. Everything in the local scrap yards are too rusty. Thanks

Re: C/R 30 Rear Spring Mounts
I've had good luck finding hangers and brackets at spring shops. Good luck, Ron

Has anyone out there who's done a 2wd to 4wd swap have a set they want to get rid of?

No 3/4 and 1 ton are not the same. Why are you taking a 1 year only hard to find truck and making it into a much easier to find truck??

I will double check I did a 2wd to 4wd swap, but I can't remember if I saved them or scraped them. But I will look for you.

Either way, maybe there is someone with a clean C/R30 wanting to do a 4wd you could work together with to swap parts?

Re: C/R 30 Rear Spring Mounts
Sorry to harsh your mellows guys. I didnt realize that they only made the 1ton 4x4 SRW 1 year. Hell I was just happy to find a rustfree CC only 80 miles from home, espeicially for $500. Less the Dana 60, trans and transfer case, guts to the FF most the interior and the bed. They put a 8.5 in place of the Dana 60.
I dont really need 4wd, Ive always done ok with posi and good tires in the winter. Besides this truck wont see too much winter if any. I gave up beating the sh..t out of my trucks in the mud etc long ago. Its too damn expensive and I dont need a lifted 4x4 to compinsate for anything either. Just messin with you guys!!!! Im going with from the factory 1 ton 2wd look with a (79) CCSB though. I am keeping the rear hangers incase I ever want it to look like 4wd. Id use lift spindles in the front. I would have gladly swapped for a clean 2wd 1ton frame. It would have saved me alot of work. |
