Difference in hoods
Hey guys,
I found a hood on craigslist but the seller does not knw what year it is. How do I tell the difference between a 60-61 and 62-66? Thanks! Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Difference in hoods
62-66 are the same except 62 has clear turn signal lenses and 63-66 has amber.

Re: Difference in hoods
Perfect. This is pretty simple. He thought it might be a 60 bc that was marked on the lens, but this make it obvious it isn't. Thanks again!

Re: Difference in hoods
the lense was probably made in 60 but used in a later year. I see that alot with gm's.

Re: Difference in hoods
Another thing is for '62-'66 hoods is that Chevy and GMC hoods are different in the park lights. Chev are recessed with a piece of alum trim around light and GMC have a external lense. '62 is clear after that they went amber.

Re: Difference in hoods
Fyi - either style of hood will bolt on to any 60-66 Chevy or GMC pickup or suburban. The striker plate in front of the radiator is the same for all years, but the hood latch must be the one designed for the hood. The release handle on the 60-61 points down and is accessed in the gap between the grille support and the hood. The 62-66 handle is accessed through the driver side rectangular hole in the front of the hood.
