Non-maglite flashlite suggestions?
i've given up (for now) on fixing the maglite due to time constraints.
Do you have any suggestions for any decent non-maglite, hopefully non-metal flashlights? i'm asking about non-maglite due to the swelling battery problem which i have not figured out how to fix at this time. 1) Money no object. 2) Money an object---say $30 max. 3) i would consider rechargable----either the light itself or the batteries. 4) Why is the $4.99 for 2 Eveready LED flashlight package at home depot worth $4.99? Because i got it only about a month ago and i here am asking the above question about decent flashlghts now. |

I've got 2 maglites with the same problem as you. If money is no object......Streamlights are the way to go. I just got one of these.

Re: Non-maglite flashlite suggestions?
Depending on amount of use I would suggest getting a decent LED faraday flashlight. I got tired of having dead batteries and for no more than I use it, it works perfect.
May look a little odd shaking a flashlight but you won't ever have to remember to change the batteries and the LEDs don't take too much power. |

Re: Non-maglite flashlite suggestions?
This is my most used Flashlight. Use it in the garage, camping, hunting, everything. Runs off of 3 (AA)'s I change them once a year (opening of hunting season)
Cabelas XPG Headlamp This is a good one as well if you dont want a headlamp XPG Cree Flashlight You can find cheaper, but I have had great luck with the Cabelas XPG line as far as performance and quality vs price. They usually have the headlamp above on sale for $19.99 this time of year, but havent see nit lately at that price. Look for a light with CREE technology around 80- 120 lumens and you should be happy. I like 120+ lumens for the woods, 80 ish for closer stuff like around the truck (less glare)

Re: Non-maglite flashlite suggestions?
As a man who has lost, broke or thrown away many a flashlight I highly recommend the Streamlight Stylus Pro. It uses two AAA batteries and has a life of 6.25hrs per battery change. I have the bigger Streamlight rechargeable but it has taken a backseat to this one. It is just as bright as a full size Maglight and I can clip it inside my pocket! It is just at $30 on the MAC tool truck.

Re: Non-maglite flashlite suggestions?
There is also a Streamlight Microstream. It uses 1 AAA. it is advertised to run 2.5hrs but I have personally used mine for about 75% of 2 12hr shifts. It has a built in pocket clips and also a hat clip.
Here is a link to it. http://www.streamlight.com/product/product.aspx?pid=144 ![]() |

Re: Non-maglite flashlite suggestions?
I've used Mag-Lites for about 40 years. They were first called Kel-Lights. I have only had a problem with swollen batteries in one light that I let batteries go dead in and didn't remove. It's bad to eave dead batteries in anything,so I blamed myself. I guess I love them so much because they were the "only" flashlight worth having for many years. It's good to see there are other quality flashlights made now. Maybe I'll try one sometime, but haven't had cause to switch yet. I don't any like L.E.D. lights I've used. They've all put out a blue beam and I need white to see best. Do these lights mentioned put out a good white beam?

Re: Non-maglite flashlite suggestions?
I used the Microstream before I got a Stylus Pro. They are the same light except the Pro uses an extra battery. They may have a different bulb but I'm not sure. In a professional setting I felt like the batteries lasted about two weeks, which to me is a long time.

Re: Non-maglite flashlite suggestions?
Nebo Redline. It takes three AAA batteries not expensive rechargeable ones. and puts out 220 lumen's and they are only around 25 bucks. You'll find that the magnetized end holds it to the underside of the hood quite well.

Re: Non-maglite flashlite suggestions?
The new Stylus Pro C4 used the same LED as the Microstream C4. You can get both in a non LED. Both the Microsteam and Stylus Pro put out a white light not blue.
