Automatic column conversion

Has anyone converted a 3 speed or floor shift column to an automatic column? Is it possible?

Re: Automatic column conversion

Best and less costly to just pick up a column to change it to.

Re: Automatic column conversion

Man thats a great price. I would buy all the columns that fit the 67-72 and see if he will do a package deal. Then you re-sell what you don't and pay for the column you keep. Just a thought.

My mom always had the best advice. It was just a tad late. After a fall that involved blood, she'd say....."Careful!"

Re: Automatic column conversion

I'd really like to keep the original look. That's why I want to convert one. I've heard that the original auto columns are hard to find without a bucket of cash.

His info is...

Pat Votana @832-928-2635

He is a real good guy, likes to talk. tell him John sent you.

They do not have the key on the side, they are smooth. key is in stock position on the dash.

Re: Automatic column conversion

I think he would do the original too. I have two original columns but since I have the 4 speed auto, I went this way.

Re: Automatic column conversion

they are real easy to convert if you use the 1st and reverse lever you have to pull the lever toward you just as if you are shifting 1st and reverse. i decided to just stitch weld the 2nd and 3rd levers together and used an s10 with 4.3 auto shift rod 1993 i think and just count the clicks for gear selection

Exactly the kind of info I needed. Could a original style indicator be mounted to the top?
