Modified Engine Wiring Schematic. Will it work?
Hey guys through numerous posts and help from fellow members I took a little time to modify an engine schematic for my application. I have a bran new engine wiring harness that has a few extra unused wires that I would like to get rid of. Would you guys please review my specs of my truck as well as the new engine schematic that I have color coded?
The schematic will be for: 1981 Chevy Shortbed SB400 -One wire alternator -Edelbrock carb (electric choke) -High torque mini starter My Schematic for my stock replacement modified engine harness:

I do question the green wire. It says the green wire is going to a Temp switch. Is this the same as the Temperature sending unit?

Everything looks good.
You might want to leave yourself a TACH wire that's already neatly bundled into the harness. A big hairy frame to block ground around the motor mounts never hurts either. |

for that matter if you are going to add any extra lights, alarms that would be good too could the green wire end, be showing both the gauge and idiot, switches?

Re: Modified Engine Wiring Schematic. Will it work?
I am definetly going to run a flat braided ground from the block to the frame.
Thanks for the heads up on the tach wire too I almost forgot. I'll throw it in the harness too. Quote:
Everything else looks ok though right? Just don't want to burn down my truck or hack up my bran new harness for nothing. Thanks fellas! Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Modified Engine Wiring Schematic. Will it work?
In my pics it has both the gauge/switch @the oil and temp
arrow being gauge, flat being switch I'd use it looks right ,but are the other wires in right? Granted the spots in the plug change, and you may have simply moved them just posting what i used, it shows 30&31 in different spots? did you have gauges before? I was idiots

Re: Modified Engine Wiring Schematic. Will it work?
That's because I think you use the wiring harness for the 1977-1980 chevy v8. I used the 81-87 chevy v8 schematic. CLICK HERE if you would like to download a copy.
(You may have to save it to your computer in order to zoom in. I dont know how to make the picture bigger.)
