PO Jacked Up My Steering Coulmn!!! HELP!!!!

I have a picture of the PO handy work. From what it looks like he welded the nut to the column, I have no idea why he did this.

What can I do to get this nut off? I am trying not to replace the column if possible.

If I have to replace the column I would like a steel one that I can paint and I would want it to be a direct fit. I dont want to have to replace anything if possible. Can you point me to some good columns that would accomplish this?

My mom always had the best advice. It was just a tad late. After a fall that involved blood, she'd say....."Careful!"

It looks to me if you get your grinder and gently grind a little at a time till you can take it off you will probably be ok.

Re: PO Jacked Up My Steering Coulmn!!! HELP!!!!

I think I am going to go with a replacement column. Upon further inspection looks like the threads maybe messed up and that is why the PO welded the nut on.

Now its just have to find one that fits my budget...US Soldier so its not going to be much.
