P/S pump pulley
I'm trying to get my pulley off fo the pump and it doesn't seem to budge. Its supposed to be a press fit. It looked like there's some sort of allen head right at the front of the pulley but, its hollow. I do have the puller that I need too. The installer part of the tool goes right through the allen head into the threads on the shaft. I've used both an impact and a 1/2" ratchet without luck. I've also got the grove on the pulley no b?%$&ed up now too. ANy ideas??? Its on an 87 R10 by the way.

Re: P/S pump pulley
You have the wrong puller or the puller is set up wrong. It requires a special designed puller to locks into the groove om the pulley. any other way will destroy the pulley and probably the pump. Ron

Re: P/S pump pulley
this is the puller you need. it has 2 metal halfs that go around the pully hub on one end and the threaded rod on the other, then the metal band hold them together, then you hold the pulley stationary and turn the puller to pull it off.

Re: P/S pump pulley
The kind that I have has, 6 legs that grip the grove in the pulley and, a sleeve slides down over the legs. Then the shaft has a bushing that goes against the pump shaft to pull it off. My problem is that, the puller is half coming off as I run the bolt down on the puller. I may go get the one that travis suggested as my local Autozone has one.
