1984 Chevrolet SWB - "Return"

So been lurking on here for a couple of years now. Decided to start a thread for the new truck build.

This is my previous 2006 Chevrolet Crew Cab - aka - "SMURFED" this pic was before the bags.

Bagging it.

Laid out.

Re: 1984 Chevrolet SWB - "Return"

So after selling that truck i bought this one.

Then ran into some issues with it and life and sold it.

Then I just bought this one from ScottRod.

And of course.... Reyna got busy on the rendering. This is just the initial process as the final one with color I should have by Monday.

Re: 1984 Chevrolet SWB - "Return"

Well I just paid for the Scott's Hot Rods Dropmember (hub to hub) Front and Rear kits bag kits.

Plans are pretty simple for this one as I want to build a hot rodders version of a 73-87 C10.

You will notice some things in the rendering but here is the skinny:

20&22 Coys C5 with Toyo Rubber
Scott's Hot Rods Dropmember (hub to hub) Front and Rear kits bag kits
Front Roll Pan with '69 Camaro Rear Bumper flipped and stretched
Flush Mount Glass
One Piece Side Windows
Roll Pan
Toyota FJ Cruiser "Voodoo Blue" we mix it a tad for my signature "Smurf Blue" from Hills Hot Rods of Lubbock
Peanut Butter powder coated frame, suspension, engine and components, driveline (if it is on the frame it will be peanut butter in color)

Peanut Butter leather interior (something to make hot rodders jealous like so)

and a few other details to set this truck apart.

Re: 1984 Chevrolet SWB - "Return"

Nice trucks!

Just one thing,
Scott's doesn't have a "Dropmember"
Porterbuilt has the only "Dropmember"
Scott's has a "bolt in IFS system"

Just a FYI

Scott's kit is a direct replacement that raises the crossmember. I spent over a hour on the phone with him last week. Also spent 2 hours at Hills looking at his setup this past Saturday compared to the Porter side by side. Its much better than the Porter. Less parts. Less worry.

I'm not arguing the merits of each one, just pointing out you were using the wrong terminology.
Porterbuilt is called a "Dropmember", Scott's isn't.
Scott's calls their's a "bolt in IFS system"
Suicide doors has a "raised crossmember"

Are they all similar in what they do? Yes
Do they all have different names? Yes
That's all I'm pointing out.
I'll quit muddying up your build thread now.

Re: 1984 Chevrolet SWB - "Return"

on those late model burban/blazer/dually grills, on each side it has 2 lights on the top and one big one on the bottom, for a cleaner look could you do a big one on top and bottom, or the two little ones on top and bottom? just an idea, i think it would look SUPER clean. just a thought man. i LOVE the rendering!

Re: 1984 Chevrolet SWB - "Return"

Just got word my parts from Scotts Hot Rods are shipping Friday. So that means time to order other stuff.

Changed my mind on the wheels and sizes this weekend. Will now be running:

Raceline Wheels Blast 5 in 22x8.5 and 24x10

Similar to the look of the Coys but the benefit of big billet
