Trans cooler question
Hey everyone!
For those of you that installed an after market trans cooler, Is it ok to hard line it in with no rubber lines? I like it this way but not sure if with torque, vibration if it will potentially leak. Thanks for any advise Brian Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Trans cooler question
what does it look like at the tranny? you have to have enough flex somewhere to let the engine move on the mounts. you don't want all the flexing to take place where the lines come out of the fitting on the trans.

Re: Trans cooler question
I have the lines doing a 90 towards the trans cross member from the trans. Then another 90 heading to inner frame rail. Its free floating until it gets to frame then i have ss loops with rubber wrapping to stop any rattling and still allow wiggle room.

Re: Trans cooler question
sounds like it'll be OK. Chevy never used any rubber in the tranny lines. they were clamped at about the middle of the oil pan rail or so, then flexed from there to the radiator.

Re: Trans cooler question
Thanks for the replies.
That's right, it was steel lined right to the radiator in the stock configuration. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Trans cooler question
I don't see a problem with it the way you have it set up. I've got a Van sitting in the yard that fried the engine before I got it because the rubber cooler line leaked at the cooler and over time got trans fluid over the bottom half of the radiator which in turn collected dirt and became greasy dirt which plugged the radiator and fried the engine when the p/o towed his 25 ft boat with it.

Ya see that is why i was never a fan of the rubber line coolers. At one point or another they will leak. Brian Posted via Mobile Device
