NOS Floor mat

Can't believe my bid was blown through at 10 secs left, I thought I could get it at 500 but guess I was wrong. Anyone here get it....

Re: NOS Floor mat

Only 4 bidders and that much action. That sucks. At that price I think I would rather own 5 Chinese knockoffs.

Re: NOS Floor mat

Sorry about that but I had been looking everywhere in the world for one of these and after seeing this one come up I had to have it for my 66 frame up short fleet. I told myself the first night it was listed that I was going to own it and we weren't anywhere close to what I had it backed up too. I did notice we were the only two bidders for the last $200 or so at the very end. I have the original upholstery bought, NOS visors and NOS steering wheel ring and cap Gm windshield w/s and a lot more to go on it now too. So I just don't look at the check book anymore when it comes to NOS parts I need. The last one of these NOS 3865525 mats I owned was back in the late 80's and it cost about $30 back then. If we only knew what would become rare.

Oh forgot to add that with corn prices topping $7 a bushel this last fall we had a very good year out here in Nebraska. The farm truck deserved a new floor mat. hehe

Re: NOS Floor mat

I was thinking the same thing for my short fleet ac truck, I bought the fabric from SMS and it was close to 5 so I thought the mat at 5 would finish my interior at a 1000. When you think about it that is really 90% of the cost as the rest is paint. Hopefully more will come out of the woodwork now. I am glad I didn't snipe it at a grand then, lol. At least its going to a good home.

Re: NOS Floor mat

Lots of money for a mat, but NOS stuff does have that allure. I've noticed that some members here don't like it when anything related to our old trucks gets expensive, but I think it's good that we have people that are serious enough to step up and pay for the correct part.

Wow....shocked at what it brought in at auction. I would rather has NOS anyday over the cheapo repop. But sometimes its the only option.

Re: NOS Floor mat

No, I got both my NOS horn ring and NOS cap from a GM dealer friend who has a huge stash if you agree to pay his price he'll look through it and get it out.

Re: NOS Floor mat

I am off to Sioux Falls in the morning to pick up a 37k mile original 66 Custom Cab 283 in unbelievable original garage stored paint and interior. I was up there a few weeks ago and bought some parts and this truck was one of the soon to be parts trucks because of some rust in the floors. This truck will be a survivor pattern to my short AC truck build too. The seats only need the fabric replaced due to a tear but the stripe and springs are shiny new. My main donor truck was a 67k mile 66 C30 chassis that had a walkin camper and this truck was built thee same month as my 66 short fleet at the same plant Janesville. The camper cab was rustfree with factory air with the AC belt still on, 327, powerglide, ps , pb, tinted glass, full gages, radio and Custom package. All original and after some fresh fuel it fired and drives great. It will be the front half donor to my short and almost everything I have NOS is going after this one. Now if I can find a pair of NOS bedsides cause I have 8 used ones that all need work. I too will keep my eye open for you LT1 Burb. Mark

Which vendor was that Yelmer, that is good to know as I was not going to put a 63 mat in a fully restored truck.

Re: NOS Floor mat

"glendale" was telling me that there is new "sniper" apps for phones that you set the highest bid you want and the app will repeatedly out bid any other bidders in the last 10 seconds up to your highest bid.......Kinda messed up....nice score on the mat funny multiple members were bidding against each other

how can something be both NEW and NOS ?

*shakes head*

-W

p.s.

NOS = new old stock

(for those of you who may be wondering - old never used original replacement parts)

Actually, there are TWO different terms used to label old unused parts. NOS means NEW OLD STOCK, as in the OEM stuff your truck had on it when it was new. Then there is NORS, which means NEW OLD REPLACEMENT stock. This is stuff that was used to replace the original parts when they wore out. As in serviceable parts that may not exactly match the factory OEM stuff. Compared to each other, there is sometimes a significant difference in the part and usually a big difference in price.
When searching for correct restoration parts, it pays to have your OEM part #'s handy and it helps to know your terminology.

Re: NOS Floor mat

Mike-
Do you know if Dixie's version will have all the correct logos, or will it be a "stock-looking" piece has that no Chevy markings?

I talked to some guys years ago that were making reproduction parts for early Camaros, and they said that GM gets a little snippy when you produce a part that's a dead-ringer for the original. They (GM) realize the profit in restorations and want a piece of the action, hence the "GM Authorized" logo on many new parts nowadays. Unfortunately, that logo isn't a guarantee that it'll fit!

Re: NOS Floor mat

All he told me is that it will be better than the ones produced before . If gm does get in there i would not be surprised . I wonder if steele rubber products thought of making it . they make the windshield gaskets from gm specs . mike

Any updates on repro mats? Also, I'm thinking of doing a poll on which mat would be the most sought after. Early or late, high or low hump. Opinions?

"Woogeroo" said what it means in a above post ^....

NOS= new old stock.....basically its old parts that are still new and never installed thats been sitting in a box or on a shelf from back in the day......most of the time its better quality then the new reproduced parts so it is usually sought after and goes for more money then reproduction parts..
