You folks that have air bags/ air suspension who did you use? Little at
I'm curious on you guys that have air bags/ air suspension who did you use? Little at a time or all at once?
two way or 4 way? Who is quality not just the most advertized? Are the ride height sensors worth it? Thanks, Rob |

I pieced my kit together from other peoples abandoned projects and installed it myself. Check the classifieds for deals.

Re: You folks that have air bags/ air suspension who did you use? Little at
You are better off with a 4 way setup for 2 main reasons. 1) It will handle better with a 4 way, with a 2 way setup the air tranfers from one side to the other when you are in a corner allowing for more body roll. 2) It will be faster inflating and deflating.
As far as the ride height sensors go, alot of it is personal preference. Myself, I wouldn't have another truck without it (or I should say my wife wouldn't let me). I have a suburban on air for a daily driver and with the leveling system, I never have to worry about it even if I got 8 people in it I know it will be sitting right.

I have an older air ride 4 way system. No sensors as it was purchased before that technology existed. I like it but would like to upgrade to an Accuair controller. I have found that the ride hight can very even when you have the same amount of air in the system. I pretty much eyeball my front air A-arms to make sure that I have it back at the correct ride hight.

Mine was done at once. I agree with having the four way. I do not have those problems of side-to-side. I was on the highway yesterday sitting a few inches off of the ground, in a curve, and it was hugging the road. Awesome feeling! I have a four-link rear, panhard, nice c-notch, 2 ViAir compressors, 5 gallon tank, have front, back and pancake setup. You can get away with normal switches. I am sure the AccuAir will be cool if you are on the highway and want to lower while moving...I know my truck really well, so I know where it is up, down or otherwise.

My '69 was pieced together with 8 valves and a 7 switch box. Worked awesome. Not sure if I will do ride sensors or not on the '66. I think they are cool and would love to tie it into the iControl system when it comes out for Android.

I have the ride tech kit with the E3 leveling sensors and it has worked great so far.
I based my descision on reputation and how long the company has been in business.

I did the same as Hotrodhomi which made it as cheap as I could get it. I really would love to have an auto leveling system though...It's just not in the budget. If I had to do it all over again, I'd run Accuair's air management instead of 8 seperate valves. The price isn't much more than 8 valves and makes installation much easier...that and upgrading to the e-level system would be simple.

I just talked with Bo @ Air Ride ( I wasn't sure if I could ask for you Rodney) and I think I'm going their way with my stock A arms with their bags & shocks. Dual compressors and either 1 five gal tank or 2 three gal tanks. the digital controller and ride height sensors. For about $2700.00 but after research it doesn't seem to get cheaper and they have been around well and have some well engineered packages. Do it once and be done with it.

If you have the time you can build your own 4 way auto leveler. Thats what I have done, and you can have a touch screen or wireless controls to control it, and any parameters that you want. On top of it your looking at a lot less dough! my buddy and i have it in one vehicle that is testing it in winter weather salt and grime and farming conditions and working out all the bugs now, and will be installing it in my 67 as soon as I get more time to get the dang thing done.

Re: You folks that have air bags/ air suspension who did you use? Little at
@ SevenOne and Gringoloco Here is a pic of the screen/ controller the microprocessor chip sits directly underneath as the screen plugs in. It is a 3" screen (stock photo on the screen). It is about 3/4" thick mounted. The other is of the valve bodies with the sensors mounted on them that monitor the individual bag pressure. run your hard or soft lines directly to them. The valves can be controlled via the processor, wireless control through the processor, or manually at the valve themselves. The valves are industrial use valves and are waterproof, and extremely shock and vibration resistant. they are aluminum bodied, with an aluminum valve block that they mount into. I dont have a photo of the ride height sensors taken but, they are a stainless ball bearing angle actuator that converts angular/height into a voltage signal to sense height.

Re: You folks that have air bags/ air suspension who did you use? Little at
I have been in Chicago since wednesday at the auto show and at CSM for the american physical therapy association national meeting.
So, the controller and processor are made in house. They are all programed in house and then once you plug in the harness to valve bodies after everything is installed you press a button on the touch screen let all the air out (or as low as you maximally want it to sit), press a button to set it, press another to press the baggs all the way up stop it where you want it to sit maximally press another button set it and your done.

The valves and controller will work with any air bag set up, heres the part I like. All the parts that we use to make everything are made in the USA, Germany, and Italy. NO cheap Chinese crap!
