Ls swap questions
Couples of questions, i have tried reading through the huge faq piece and searched the website but could not find everything i needed first off
1. My motor is supposedly an 05 assuming that is correct the power steering has 2 lines coming off of it but the pressure side is also clamp on which i haven't seen should i just run it the same way the return line is clamped on? 2. Is anyone using an ls with the early style 4l80 like mine from 91 with column mounted neutral safety switch, my tranny plug went in fine but obviously the large neutral safety switch plug has nowhere to go 3. There's a plastic line coming out from under the intake cover that goes down behind the heads by the fuel line what exactly is this 4. Can i just use my regular filter, in tank pump setup NOT the corvette setup with my motor which is a return less style setup with a regulator on the rail

Re: Ls swap questions
1, you have a pump ment for use with Hydroboost brakes. It will have two returns and one presure, the pressure will be a treaded 0-ring fitting and the returns will be just clamped on. Cap one the returns.
2, Dunno 3, EVAP, take the line off and have your tuner turn off the EVAP codes. You will still have the EVAP solinoid on your intake, but it is under you engine cover so you won't see it. If you break it off like I did a 1/4?NPT plug will fill the hole. 4, Sure if it is designed for FI pressure and you buy a regulator to get the pressure to 58psi. Most use the vette filter because it is a relatively cheap way to get a filter and regulator. |

Re: Ls swap questions
2, You can use the one on the column for the actual neutral safety function and back up lights, but you should leave the switch on the side of the transmission. It lets the computer know what gear it's in, it's not super necessary but if you ever need to do a crank relearn or something like that you'll need it. Just leave the wires that are connected to it and the PCM and you'll be fine, you don't need the wires that went to the original shifti indicator lights on the instrument cluster.

Re: Ls swap questions
As far as my pump goes there is only two lines I'm pretty sure unless the other one is that good hiding or I'm just that blind
Now the transmission nova what switch are you talking about leaving on the side of my transmission exactly if its the NSS its on the column so that's where I'm confused because I have the old 4l80 Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Ls swap questions
Your power steering pump has to have a threaded fitting in the back of if, you CANNOT just hose clamp a PS high pressure hose. If you have 2 clamped on hoses then odds are its a hydroboost pump.
As for the neutral safety switch, newer ones have them on the side of the trans, if you have an older one it probably doesn't. So just use your factory column mounted switch. You may have to do some PCM harness nods though. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Ls swap questions
Also on number 4 you say your fuel rail is returnless which an '05 should be. They do not have a regulator on the fuel rail and you'll need to do the Corvette filter.
