I finally got the snow off the hood and took some pictures of the ac pully set up.

That is strange looking. I have not seen a pulley arrangement like that before.

Thanks, I need to look at my pulleys and see if they are the same. I though there was 2-3 v grooves on the crank.

Re: LT1 Burb:pully pictures 66 factory air 327
I could look closer but these seem to be the same as the 67's which I have two of these engines. They use a single pully on the crank and then a cast iron bolt on 2 pully if I remember right.

Re: LT1 Burb:pully pictures 66 factory air 327
The short water pump small blocks with A/C that I have seen, have a dual groove water pump pulley with the grooves right side by side. Then the same on the crank with another groove right next to the alternator belt groove.

Re: LT1 Burb:pully pictures 66 factory air 327
Well I know for a fact that the 65 and 66 factory air engine did not use a fan clutch and it is not listed in the GM parts book till either 67 or 68 trucks with factory air. My 66 does have the 5 blade fan which is part of the HD cooling which came standard with factory air. So I think the cast iron stud upper pully was used when they went to the fan clutch which the hub bolted on the studs of the cast iron pully. There is a great picture in the GM parts book of the fan pully arrangement of a factory air 65 or 66 in the parts blow up section in front of group nine I believe. I'm out of town so I'm not near my original 67 327 ac truck or the parts books at the moment. This 66 327 truck was built at Janesville and has a build date code of around June, 1966 and I have no doubts about this being the original parts on this engine. The truck has 67k miles on it and the spark plug wires are the original Packard date coded 1st qtr of 66 on them.

Re: LT1 Burb:pully pictures 66 factory air 327
I stand corrected on the fan clutch option. The 1970 print parts book also lists it as for 65-69 C10-30 (second design) 327 with factory air 7 1/8 diameter fan clutch. So what did the 283 use? I see no listing for that?
I don't remember what my 66 c10 283 factory air had on it back in the 80's when I owned it either. But I didn't think it was a fan clutch for some reason. This 66 set up pictured above looks factory installed on my 66 C30 cab chassis which was a walkin camper body on it when I got it. It has a powerglide behind it and the rear axle was duals with 5:13 gears so maybe too many rpms for a fan clutch option?

Re: LT1 Burb:pully pictures 66 factory air 327
hello was that a dealer install ac ? the pulleys are for the 283 setup. which works great . the 327 used the cast pulley also the ac belt is smaller . it is hard to tell what the did on these trucks . in the 1965-66 accessories install manuals the picture in that looks like yours.

Re: LT1 Burb:pully pictures 66 factory air 327
It is a full blown Frigidaire date coded system and has all the right pieces like the below dash ash tray and all the correct holes and manifold attachments look factory. The glove box option sheet is gone but I got the Eldorado camper dealer sheet that listed the cab chassis options before the camper upgrade and it was a fully loaded C30 truck. 327 powerglide, ps pb factory air. tinted glass, full gages, radio. Notice it even has factory tinted glass. The alternator is date coded the same month as the engine and is a 42 amp which the 1966 dealer ordering book calls out as included with the factory air option. I'm thinking the low gear rear end may have something to do with no fan clutch here. I will dig into it more when I take it apart for restoration and maybe the air vent cut on the dash will shed some light on a later dealer cut dash. But also I should check if A/C or C60 is grease penciled on the firewall too. Just don't remember as I didn't doubt the factory air install.

The crank pulley has a 299N on it and the water pump pulley has a 3868559 on it with an LB2 or L82.

Re: LT1 Burb:pully pictures 66 factory air 327
You can see your lower crankshaft set up is the same as my first pictures above and that uses the single steel next to balance then the two groove cast. The upper is like Yellmers picture and that 3 groove cast mounts on the studs of the waterpump and the built in casting is a spacer that the clutch fan mounts to. The belts all go on like my picture or Yellmers. Furthest back groove is the alternator to crank to water pump groove. second groove back or middle groove which is spaced one pulley width from the very back groove is the ac belt which goes around compressor to very front groove of water pump pulley and around the crank middle groove. Final is the power steering pump to the outer most crank groove only. On the 3 groove water pump cast pully the second groove is not used. Clear as mud right?

Re: LT1 Burb:pully pictures 66 factory air 327
OK, thanks for the pic. I figured out what needs to be done. I do however have a question. My pulleys don't line up and it looks like the water pump one needs to go back a 1/4" or get spaced forward a 1/4", any thoughts.

Re: LT1 Burb:pully pictures 66 factory air 327
These are some shots of the truck I took my AC out of. The crank pulleys are probably wrong because it's two pieces useing lug nuts as spacers between the two. The water pump pulley looks more correct for your application though.

Yes, any angle shots for pulley alignment, or if you can see any spacers behind the pulley, thanks.
