How rare were power windows and locks in 1980?
Seems like my Blazer has all the options except power windows and locks- were they still pretty rare?
Mine's a Silverado with Air, Cruise Control, Tilt, 350/Auto, AM/FM, Gauges, Ralleys, 2-Tone- wondered why no windows? |

Not rare at all.
Back then You could order a truck however you wanted it. I had an 80 silverado with manual windows and locks. Posted via Mobile Device

Based on the vehicles I have seen
I would estimate 10% had pw/pdl...ZY2 option Only available on reg cab trucks until 81(first year for crewcab ZY2) Some regions tended to order more options than others Oil rich Alberta had a lot of loaded pickups ...especially in the cities Saskatchewan was more farm country ....lots of 6 cyl and three on the tree Some northern areas would order pdl but not pw ...the power windows freeze up in the cold. |

What do you mean "only until '81"? They were available after '81- they started in '77 or '78- correct?

Available on reg cab only 77 to 80 Available on reg cab and crewcab 81 up Always a stand alone option as far as I know...that is you could order them on any trim level but they were not standard equipment at any trim level. But you are much more likely to find them on Silverados/loaded trucks |

Re: How rare were power windows and locks in 1980?
Power windows were pretty common on trucks( Silverado and Sierra Classics) in the 80's although many of people still didn't think they wanted them on a truck. They were still thinking of a truck being used to work from back then and didn't see the power accessories useful. the trucks came with power accessories with a higher price and most people didn't take the bait. The dealers sold alot more sierras and scottsdales without power windows and locks. Around 81' they began to become standard equipment.
