4L60 Shift Linkage
I'm looking to hook up the tranmission linkage. Ive got a 77 Blazer 2wd with a 4.8 4L60 swap. What are the options that I have? Any pics would be great. Thanks

Re: 4L60 Shift Linkage
locar cable or shift rod assembly. You could go either way

Re: 4L60 Shift Linkage
If I can get the factory linkage to hook up , will I be able to go through all the gears? I checked and it is lined up with the old bar linkage and I removed the factory cable shifting part and the linkage from the t350 fit right on

Re: 4L60 Shift Linkage
Some members have trouble getting down to 1st even with aftermarket linkage. I'm using the Lokar ACA-1800 linkage and have no problems, took a few tries to get the adjustment right though.

Re: 4L60 Shift Linkage
I cant think of any reason (other than grade braking) to "manually shift" a 4L60E. They shift just fine leaving them in 4th gear.

Re: 4L60 Shift Linkage
on my 68 I used an original 3speed linkage, and welded a bracket on the 4l60e gear selector that is 1 in. lower and 1 in. foward, it works great and engages every gear.

Re: 4L60 Shift Linkage
I'm gonna be running longtubes on my swap, and
by the looks of it, the factory rod-linkage is not going to function properly because of the header collector. I'm still trying to find a solution... |

Re: 4L60 Shift Linkage
When I installed everything I just made sure the transmission shift arm was in the same location as it was on the turbo 350. I also took the shift bracket off the turbo 350 and removed the one off the 4l60. Then put the 350 one on the 4l60. It fit perfect with no mods. They used the same d shaped shaft The. Just bolted the orignal shift rod up Worked perfect. Since this post I also pulled everything out of the blazer it was in and installed it in a 91 suburban. It installed the same

Re: 4L60 Shift Linkage
On my 76 2wd i used a shift arm from the frame to the transmission and the u shaped bracket on the shift shaft of the transmission from an 84 700r4 diesel. I found that the shift arm from the frame to the transmission is a different length between the 76 th350 arm and the 84 700r4. The initial adjustment and has the linkage working ok so far. My column is not set up for an o/d transmission and I cant get manual 1st. The short arm is from the 84 diesel 700r4.

Re: 4L60 Shift Linkage
Just did the Lokar set up on a buddies swap. Only issue we had was it had a stock auto column in it and we had to grind the engagement tab off the stock column.

Re: 4L60 Shift Linkage
Moved the pin up the frame to match the position of the 700r4 shift rod, adjusted all factory stuff, worked like a champ. Now with the 4l60E, the PRNDL sensor makes the trans package 3/4" thicker, so I took 3/4" out of the center of the crossover bar, bolts right up.
