how to flush coolant without heater hose? Can I use the waterpump bypass?
i want to flush my coolant. I don't have a heater core installed in the truck. the prestone kit wants you to put a tee fitting in the heater hose and hookup a garden hose to it. I don't have any heater hoses. I do have the waterpump bypass hooked up. its a small 90 degree hose that goes from the front of the intake manifold to the top of the waterpump. i was thinking of taking the bypass hose off and adding a longer piece of heater hose and hooking it backup and putting the tee fitting in there. I believe that would allow me to pump out the old coolant. any suggestions? Has anyone tried it like this? thanks

should work, remember to get it up to temp so the thermostat opens up, or remove it so you get a full flush. when you hit it with the flushing water it will cool enough to close the t stat again, that is why I usually remove mine, gasket is cheap.

Dont forget to drain both sides of the block. Keep flushing the system until the water runs clear.
