Need 250 I6 info:
Why are the cast iron headers for a 250 so hard to find? Where could I find them? You see them for the 235 / 216 all the time. Also I am looking for finned aluminum valve cover and side covers and want to know the best place to get them. Thanks for any info.

Re: Need 250 I6 info:
not hard at all. Tom Langdons the guy, @ www.stoveboltengineco.com
I have his cast headers, and they are very very nice. I have his side covers and they are very very very nice. I have his custom "small" HEI, which is the only HEI that will fit easily under an AC compressor. those cast headers on the 235 are called Fentons.

Re: Need 250 I6 info:
Remember that a lot of 230, 250 & 292 parts are interchangeable....some are not. Exhaust is one that will

Non-inter-changable would be sidecovers, clutch, cam(unless you change to electric fuel pump),pushrods, damper, and maybe some other things, but thing like valve cover,intake/exhaust stock or aftermarket, distributor, fuel pump, water pump, head, and pistons I believe are inter-changable.

Re: Need 250 I6 info:
292 pistons do not interchange with the 230/250 due to the different compression height and pin location. ,

Re: Need 250 I6 info:
The 305 V8 pistons work on the 250/230 and they are flat top and not the dish type from the factory.

also cause the compression distance. Piston wise I meant bore size was the same between the 230-250-292.

Re: Need 250 I6 info:
Also, the heads on 292's aren't interchangeable on the smaller blocks due to a higher deck on the big ol' 292's.

Re: Need 250 I6 info:
No, the heads are the same. 292's came with rotators on the exhaust valves, but the head was otherwise the same. (Some will put 194 heads on 292's for extra compression.)

Re: Need 250 I6 info:
They actually are because I have seen a 194 head on a 292.
