Re: rear end stuck in the air
I'm no expert but I do not think you can cut the rears. I have heard of people installing jeep spring to lower the rear buy they can not carry a heavy lode. I would just by some drop coils or blocks.

Re: rear end stuck in the air
Jeep coils suck.
(my opinion) Buy drop springs made for our trucks. Look at www.performanceonline.com for great deals.

Re: rear end stuck in the air
While I agree that buying new drop springs, why not try a set of used jeep springs.
You can get them easy from the pick a part, and if you hate them you can always swap in a new set at a latter date. Hell I bet you could sell the jeep springs and recover the money you paid for them.

Re: rear end stuck in the air
I cut my rear coils just fine i cut mine from the top, everybody has there opinion on it, but i have found cutting the taper of the end and having the frame just rest on the coil works fine as long as you have the shocks hooked up they keep the rear end from moving enough for the frame to miss the spring....and my buddy that has had atleast 6(i know its more then 6) of the trucks has done the same to most of them with no problems, I how ever when i still had cut coils in the rear used a u-bolt to bolt the coil to the frame just for extra piece of mind and to tell all the guys that say"you cant cut the rear coils theres no way to secure them" to crawl under and take a look! Just my 2 cents

I would suggest to anybody who is thinking about aftermarket springs, and still uses their truck to haul, to consider the "heavy duty" ones. the regular drop springs I got were as worthless for carrying a load as the jeeps are reported to be.

Re: rear end stuck in the air
Well I found jeep springs for 25 bucks and I don't haul anything but here's the front. I may buy some lowering springs later and just use the jeep ones until they arrive...Well I have to lost from my laptop it won't let me post from my iPad

Re: rear end stuck in the air
I've been riding on jeep coils for the better part of two years. They work just fine, and they were totally free. I hauled around about 400 pounds of olympic weights in my truck just about two weeks ago with no problems at all. Save your original rear coils though; whenever I want to haul real weight I just throw the originals back on and get to work. The swap only takes about 25 minutes.

Re: rear end stuck in the air
Ahhh Pensacola! I miss that place, used to live there. Nice truck, by the way! Once comment, since we're talkin upgrades, etc. I highly recommend a gas cap in lieu of a bandana before you become a 55 mph molatov cocktail. Or is the bandana just covering the cap?? If that is the case, then disregard this! Like the stance. Agree with the "made for" coil comments, probably worth the $ when you get a chance. But I'd have grabbed the jeep springs for $25 too for now.

Re: rear end stuck in the air
the reason you bought the jeep springs is so they will have pig tails on the ends so you could secure them like the stock springs......im not sure if the are shorter or the compression rate is different since i didnt go that route but they lower the truck when installed, im sure you could cut them but then your back to square one and should of just cut your stock springs!!! im sure someone who has put them can tell you if its height or what that makes them lowering springs!

Re: rear end stuck in the air
Yes I DO have a gas cap LOL but the seal was bad so i put the rag around it to keep it airtight. So...... I bought the jeep coils, wtf???? Are these the right ones? I thought we could cut these but they are the same shape as the stock spring, can i cut these? do i cut from top or bottom? Any help will be appreciated...

Re: rear end stuck in the air
There are four different versions of the springs that were used from 1997 through 2006. These are the ones that can be used on the C10. Similar rear springs could be found on the Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ. All four versions are the same length wise but vary in rate.
The only way to tell them apart is by the color coded tags that are on the springs from the factory, they read as follows: 103AA (or 3AA) 130lb. 104AA (or 4AA) 140lb. 105AA (or 5AA) 150lb. 106AA (or 6AA) 160lb. hope this helps

Re: rear end stuck in the air
From the tag in the pictures it looks like he gots the 105AA springs, 150 lbs.....does that mean it takes more pressure to push the springs down hence meaning less drop?? then the 103AA because the bed weight pushes 130lbs down more???

Re: rear end stuck in the air
you will get around a 3.5 to 4 inch drop from all of them some are a stronger compression (measured in the first inch of compression) and therefore wont drop as much when loaded
