Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Nice looking stuff!! Would this work for the suburban guys? I heard that you have a suburban bolt in style c-notch available, could the rest of these parts work with the suburban specific notch?

Unsure if this will cross over to the burb... in it's current form it's a no-go on the blazers.

As for the notch, this same style notch COULD be used on a burb, the only trouble is that it's a two-piece design and the top half slides over the top of the frame (to form a completely boxed assembly). There are mounting fasteners that go through the top of the farme to secure the notch. Installation would be extremely difficult if not impossible without lifting/removing the body.

Just about "production ready"... finishing up some of the fixtures for the cross-members.

We are currently running about a 3 week build time. We build everything on a per order basis.

Re: Porterbuilt Rear Trailing Arm Kit for 73-87 C10

Over the years I've seen plenty of tech/install pictures with either Nate's fingers or shoes in the picture. Leave it to Nate to be the ony person to ever fabricate some steel toe flip flops !!!!!!

Back on target here. Great lookis kit Nate and definately nice to see a coil-over system finally hitting the market. With all these G-Machine cars being built, let's step up the truck builds and get some T-Machine carving up the cone courses.

Are the trailing arm mounts in the same place as the leaf spring mounts? Looks like they might be more inward?

Re: Porterbuilt Rear Trailing Arm Kit for 73-87 C10

They're going to slightly inward and angled when compared to a leaf spring axle. From prior experiences, I would recommend doing the following.

1. Have the vehicle set at ride height and secure on jack stands. Place the new axle housing on the trailing arms with the new spring pads resting in place between the axle tube and the trailing arm.

2. Tighten the U bolts up just a little to secure the axle on the arms however but leave them loose enough so you can still rotate the housing. Jack the axle up so it's going to be in it's intended ride height position.

3. Measure the distance from the axle flange at the end of the housing - to the frame on each side. Position / adjust the axle until the measurements are the same on each side which should now place the axle centered under the frame rails.

4. Check the pinion angle to see it's at the desired angle for you're particular installation.

5. Tighten the U bolts to temp. secure the axle pads in place. Cycle the suspension / axle travel and make sure there is no binding, the axle movements is correct, and that there are no clearance issues.

6. If you're comfortable with the position of the axle at this time, securely tack the axle brackets in place. Remove the U bolt and securely weld the axle pads to the axle tube. ( It might be easier to rotate the housing so that you can position yourself and the axle , in a way to get a nice weld around the pad and tube. )

Hope some of that helps answer you question and point you in a positive direction.

Re: Porterbuilt Rear Trailing Arm Kit for 73-87 C10

Kontrol; good info!
The reason I ask is because I'm getting a narrowed rearend 1 1/2" per side. i'm using a 20x12 wheel right now with 315/35/20's but I'm wanting to use a bigger tire that Mickey Thompson has. In order to do that I need the more perches in and narrow rear. The trailing arm set-up would be perfect plus it would help me plant the power of the 454 big block too!!

Re: Porterbuilt Rear Trailing Arm Kit for 73-87 C10

Hey guys i was in Scottsdale about two weeks ago and decide to take a ride to Apache Junction to visit Porter Built. I met with Dave after deciding which buidling to try, lol and who gave me a tour of the shop during his lunch time. All I can say is FIRST CLASS shop and products. The pictures do not do the products justice, they are high quality. I saw their R&D area and WOW, they have their stuff together. Thanks again Dave for the tour, I thought I was in the MAD MAX movie driving the roads, LOL.

Thanks again guys, saving to place a sizable order by mid summer.

Thanks Officer Martinez
