new dual master cylinder leaking at the lid

I've tried making sure the rubber gasket thingy is seated properly and the clips are obviously snapped on but it still leaks fluid out of the lid/casting seam.

Ideas how to get this sealed up? It's a friggin' new MC and I really don't want to send it back and re-bleed the brakes.

Thanks,
Scott

It may sound elementry, but I found the spring clip that holds the cap on sometimes too lose. If you put a little more of a bend in it that some times resolves the issue.
Good luck.

I'll give it a shot.

Re: new dual master cylinder leaking at the lid

I had the same thing with my Master cylinder.
I installed disc brakes on the front, with a new MC. It turns out the parts store sold me, by mistake, the wrong MC.
Check the parts number and be sure it is the correct one.
I had one that was for disc brakes on all 4 corners.

I picked it up from classictruck.com but it also doesn't call out drum or disc brakes (as you suggested looking up). Classictruck.com just specifies it will work for my year.

I'll dig into your suggestion a bit more.

Thanks!

I had the same issue, I replace the rubber gasket thing and it solved the problem.
