Tilt disassembly
I've searched all over the dang place, supposedly there is an FAQ but it must be hiding? I just need to disassemble the cancelling cam and turn signal switch to clean the guts and paint the column. I can't get the housing off...getting frustrated.
Anybody point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Thanks, I found those. What is not easily described is how to pull the housing off, a puller will bend the lip...I was able to tap it off from the backside with a screwdriver and hammer very gently and still managed to damage it a little. Not enough that it couldn't be bent, filed and sanded back though.

It shouldnt bend the lip, there isnt that much pressure holding the cover on. Just a slip fit, less damage then a screwdriver

40 plus years of use and dirt had the collar on tight. There was no pulling it off. I was able to tap gently but firmly on the edge (not pry or bend) at the bottom of the collar while working around the column and slowly move it off. The spot that I nicked was an easy clean-up. Not the best way, but like I said the puller just starting bending the lip so I stopped before any damage took place. If there was a tool that would grab the majority of the lip it might have worked.
