Rally Wheel Paint
I know somebody on here knows the best spray paint (rattle can) that is used on the truck rally wheels. I am trying to redo mine and would like to know what every body uses and likes the best. Thanks

Re: Rally Wheel Paint
I used "Argent Silver" from Eastwood. It is a perfect match and comes out awesome. I also clear coated mine.

Re: Rally Wheel Paint
yea argent silver is the correct color code...alot of guys manage to use other silvers from various companies and still pull off the original look. Im currently waiting on a couple cans of argent silver and clear from eastwood at the moment, ill post pictures once my wheels are refinished.

Re: Rally Wheel Paint
I use Krylon Dull Aluminum, I think it looks better than Argent Silver. And it doesn`t flake or peel, and is cheaper.

Re: Rally Wheel Paint
I use Plasti-Kote wheel paint and the color is Steel Wheels #618. It is extremely durable and looks just like the factory Argent Silver.

Re: Rally Wheel Paint
Thanks to everyone, I always used argent for my other rallye wheels (the small bolt pattern, camaros, novas, etc.) but I didn't know it was the correct paint for the truck wheels. Thanks again

Re: Rally Wheel Paint
Is there a standard color for rally rims? I got a set with my truck but they were painted to match the truck, wouldn't mind pickin up another set and paint them the original colors to just have with the other sets of rims I got, got more shoes for my truck then my self

Re: Rally Wheel Paint
I plan on doing my rims on 87 GMC same as these. What was the prep work? I plan on sanding smooth, then did anyone use primer? and then paint? Just want to do it right. These rims look great by the way.

Re: Rally Wheel Paint
I use red scotchbrite to prep the wheel (works better than sand paper) then wipe off spray argent silver. Little masking tape doesn't hurt.

Re: Rally Wheel Paint
Duplicolor HPW101 Silver works great. Get (2) cans of primer, (2) cans of the base silver, and (1) or (2) cans of gloss clear coat. The rear of the wheel should be black. The 'base' of the center cap is supposed to be the same silver as the wheel, though I actually polished the whole center cap when I did mine. I used Duplicolor wheel paint (which should stand up to the chemicals a little better).
The steps I used:
