Re: supercharger for 350?
Summit makes a 350sb kit, not smog leagal in ca. Check ur local laws..
Banks makes a turbo kit. Id go that route, but again, smog is always an issue. Posted via Mobile Device |

No pully changes, longer life. U can adjust boost several diff ways. Several! U can achiev cooler intake air with turbos. However, before u even THINK of boosting antythibg, be ready to spend 10k easy. Ur motor, carb, transmission, rearend, everything needs to b changed to accept boost/hp. The turbo/supercharger/procharger alone will b 5k if ur lucky. So ask urself, is this gonna b finished or another craigslist ad? Do u have 10k and 5 years?? Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: supercharger for 350?
I dnt mean to discourage u, but massive changes like these cost tons of money, also remember, until u make 700+ hp these hondas will still walk all over u. Ur trucks HEAVY. Hense y most ppl blow or charge pony cars and chevells,
I suggest u save ur money. Do it all at once, if ur serious. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: supercharger for 350?
A blower or turbo cost money to do and with a stock small block 7 maybe 8psi is all it would run.Just remember power=money and power kills mpg too,If you want to tick him off cheaply find a mustang 2 or pinto or even a chevette throw a big block in and watch him cry lol.

Top end ull need some valve springs to match boost. Arp head bolts with boost approved gaskets. Whats ur compression with those pistons? U need to b at 7:5;1 i believe?? Idk on that one.. Sounds like that motor would b happier with nos. ?? Id ponder that route before boosting. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: supercharger for 350?
no offense to anyone but ive seen several guys build vortech supercharger kits with intercooler and tuned for less than 2000 dollars. granted this is on a fuel injected car and only running 8-12 lbs of boost. you can build turbo kits for around the same price, not new, not top of the line but not ebay crap turbos either. if you want big power, yea 10,000-15,000 is a reasonable starting point. but most people are going to be satisfied with 75-100 more hp. and on the street, thats reasonable. btw, i have a link to mustang site with vortech build

Re: supercharger for 350?
this is built with a used head unit vortech only, and all other new parts. istead of getting a discharge tube, people have been buying the cxracing universal 31x12x3 intercooler and piping for the same price. i built this exact setup intercoolered for 1200 with injectors and blow through mass air flow and i tuned it with my sniper software. took me a while to find all the parts for good prices but i wasnt in a hurry. it was a beast 2000 rpms and up and made over 400 REAR WHEEL horse power not fly wheel. the cxracing intercooler seems cheap at 200 dollars but i concidered it very good over all. it had a little more boost drop than i liked but a pulley fixed that.
hers the link http://mustangforums.com/forum/pipes...-its-done.html the guy did a crappy job on the intercooler install but you can get the point and idea of it http://mustangforums.com/forum/pipes...-finished.html heres a pic of my setup before we tore it down. btw, stock long block 4.6 sohc |

Re: supercharger for 350?
its a v2 t trim vortech supercharger. the motor is a 01 mustang factory 4.6 (281 ci), single over head cam motor. its about 9.5:1 compression. thats edelbrock victor jr manifold with a sulivan upper and and a twin throttle body. the rods factory in these motors are good to only 400-450 rwhp. pistons same but the crank is good to around 550-600 rwhp. ford's little ol' modular 4.6's aint too bad with boost or nitrous on them!

Re: supercharger for 350?
I've build a couple of boosted cars in the past, takes alot of tuning knowlage (not Bubbas Backyard Garage lol). It has taken me about 10 years to tune with profection and to aquire equipment to do so. Just remember, 2k sounds like a hell of a deal.....do you ever see their post about their engine blowing up??? No, you really dont see that too often. I'd save and spend the money over a period of time or all at once...you will be way more pleased in the long run and the longevity of the vehicle with matched parts.
Heres a couple of my current builds..LS1 in an '04 GTO and a 502 in a '68 GTO. The '04 made 598hp at the tire on all stock bottom and heads (now has cracked piston skirt) "on a budget" build. Now im spending $ for everything new :/ The '68 made 1273hp on the dyno with out the spray (250 shot) That engine was done right, over 12k in the engine alone. I drive it on the street and not a single problem in 2 years.....except for tires lol! So, save, research, and do it right once. If you have a shop build the engine, be there every day watching and learning. Good luck and if you have a question, PM me.

Re: supercharger for 350?
Well said badpontiacs. nice builds as well.
Research is definitely a must, but in my experience you won't completely understand it all until you do it. If it's what you want and can afford it, I say go for it. Here's a crappy cell phone pic of my vortech setup.

Re: supercharger for 350?
May as well throw my 2¢ in. To do it right and not worry about something giving up somewhere down the road isn't going to be cheap, as others have stated. You might think about doing this in stages. As an example, in my case found a block ready to go and ordered the rotating assembly by the end of summer. Started the assembly process in the fall while I gathered the funds for the blower and ordered from Summit. Took much longer to gather up the pennys for the injection but had it going before spring. 5 years on the street daily, driven hard and put up wet, and no issues on 10 lbs. of boost. Not the fastest in town by any means, but that isn't why I built this. For a reference, here's my build sheet from the top hat to the oil pan. Best of luck to ya!!

Re: supercharger for 350?
ive yet to see a lot of those car blow from that build. most of the ones that did were pushing the limits of the engine and knew they were on borrowed time. a great tune is the key to keep the engine alive and healthy but with any upgrade to a stock engine, you are cutting its life shorter.

Re: supercharger for 350?
from what you said with a 700 lift cam and little 150 cc heads you need to re-think your whole idea of building this motor. not to be rude just saving you alot of time and money for nothing that works together at the end result
