Anybody tried to mount a 5.25" speaker in the factory 4x10 housing?

Just curious if anybody has tried. Was thinking about modifying mine to accept 2 5.25" speakers instead of the 4x10.

I have the 6x9 brackets but think i might try this instead. Any comments?

I'd be curious too since my Sierra has the 4x10s in the corners as well.

I wonder if the plastic could be a bit brittle making it difficult to mod them?

I may try to modify them just to see. Worst case I have to use the 6x9 brackets.
