Aftermarket Fenders and other body parts.
Hello all. Finally getting around to starting on my truck project, and wanted people's input on aftermarket sheet metal for these trucks. It seems like getting good used OEM sheet metal for these trucks is getting to be quite difficult, especially in the rust belt. I have LMC and and American Classic Truck Parts close by me. If anyone has used sheet metal parts from either of these suppliers recently, how was the fit, etc?
Thanks in advance. |

Anyone???
I am like this guy; I am considering ordering some aftermarket fenders in the near future. Can anyone comment on the quality of the aftermarket fenders?

If you want perfect you are not going to get it with any aftermarket part IMO. They all have to be massaged. I think they fit plenty good for most people though if you aren't an absolute perfectionist.

Re: Aftermarket Fenders and other body parts.
would not recommend getting any aftermarket metal... i ordered about 1500.00 worth of stuff through lmc and its simply trash. Its better to go to a salvage yard, find a halfway decent fender, door panel, ect. and bring it back to life. Put aftermarket metal next to original gm metal and the quality speaks for itself.

Re: Aftermarket Fenders and other body parts.
Thanks for the input fellas.
Unfortunately, finding even decent sheet metal for these trucks in the rust belt is getting difficult. I don't even like putting aftermarket sheet metal on my Honda, but I figured there might possibly be better alternatives for some old GM iron. I guess OE stuff is pretty much always going to be the best route to take. |
