First off, great site have found alot of usefull info for my new wheels. My truck is lacking a rear bumper and fan shroud if I were to go to a pull-a-part yard what would be some suitable subs. It has stock radiator and a 350.

I'd venture a guess that a rear bumper off a Chevy/GMC stepside up through '87 would work. I doubt the newer fan shrouds would work though - The radiator is taller on the newer trucks.

You need to look up Wes at Classic Heartbeat Pick up Parts. He is located in Olympia, Wash. (is that close to you?)
Wes normally has tons of used parts and trucks along with great prices on new stuff too. Here is a link to his site. http://classicheartbeat.com.westserver.net/
He is one of the few that I normally recomend...mostly becouse I have not dealt with many places, but he knows his stuff and treats you right.
And that is an awsome looking truck...whats the details on it?

while we're on the subject will a brake booster and master cylinder off of an 85 pickup work on a 71 pickup?

Thanks for the compliments. The details aren't alot.I bought it a month ago for 4k it has had some work done rebuilt 350/350, guages, 12 bolt rear 3:73 gears newer paint. Have lots of plans but as seems to be a common theme (no money and less time). Maybe when I'm done in the Air Force I'll have time and money to fix it up right!

My understanding is that the primary concern with master cylinders is that you need the same configuration of brakes or you'll run into problems.

Drum brakes require a great deal more pressure to work than disk, so if you used a drum-rear M/C with disk-rear brakes, you'd have your back brakes locking up way too fast. The opposite would also be true.

well i have a disc/drum setup on my truck and im guessing that the 85 would be the same. im more concerned about it actually bolting up than anything else.

On the fan shroud, go with the original equipment. Small block ones are available on the parts board on occasion. Don't get in a hurry, you'll be fine without it in Spokane for a couple more months. Problem with finding a pull a part might be bolting it up to the radiator more than anything. Post a request for a shroud to the parts board and someone will likely come the the rescue.

One the booster items, you probably can use the master cylinder and prop valve and be okay. I've seen newer ones used, and it will need to be disc/drum components (don't thing there was any other options in '85, no ABS yet on the rears). I doubt the bracketry will fit nor the brake pedal angles are the same. Most if not all of the original components are still availble from supporting distributors as well as your local parts house. Someone will have a shot cab that you can buy the booster bracket an rod from on this site too I would imagine.

For the cost of a new repro bumper, I'd definetly go that route over used. Especially if going with a chrome one.

A truck worth 4K deserves a new bumper!

For the fan shroud, search the junkyards. I found mine that way. I paid $3.00 for it! :p
