A 9" rearend question for the "Mad Scientists"
I ordered the Currie 9+ Centurion Ford 9" reared end housing, 3" DOM tubes, late model big Ford billet housing ends to go in my '71.
My question is; should I center the housing or center the pinion? I have heard that Ford centered the housing in order to have constant pinion angle laterally or side-2-side as well as the vertical pinion angle. I would rather have equal length axles and the housing centered but am willing to center the pinion if needed. All advice is greatly appreciated. Respectfully, Adam

If it were me, I would ask the tech at Curries. No one knows 9" Fords better than them.

Re: A 9" rearend question for the "Mad Scientists"
I always (shouldn't sat that) use a pinion centered housing, as it keeps the driveshaft straight back. - For cars/trucks built for show, I would use a housing centered for looks.

Id center the housing so that you are guaranteed to have bearing movement in the u-joints even if the the drive shaft, trans and pinion are perferfectly parallel to the ground but truthfully it probably doesnt matter too much.

Centered pinion makes more room for mufflers.

Re: A 9" rearend question for the "Mad Scientists"
Ok, this is great. Are there anymore pro's and con's I can get on either set-up?
Also, I am pretty sure I posted this in the wrong section, my apologies. Respectfully, Adam

Center your pinion in your frame to keep your driveshaft straight.'

When I get home I will need to send back the rear Wilwood kit for one with the late model big ford bracket. I made a last minute decision to get rid of the 12 bolt. I will call you when I get home and we can discuss this more. Thanks for your help last week. Respecfully, Adam
