Vintage Accessories
I've searched the forums trying to find a thread like this, but couldn't find anything, so I thought I'd start one.
Whenever I go to a car show, cruise night, or even a junkyard I always like to look at what accessories someone added back in the day. These weren't with my truck, but I've added them over since I finished restoring it.. FM Converter (I've got a Sirius/XM unit hooked to it that's hidden under the dash): Compass (Somehow I'm always going North...): Original keychain.. And this air freshener doesn't look like much, but it's for a local dealer, and it's probably about 40 years old too... Found a pile of NOS ones at a flea market for a $1! And they still smell good! Now what's everyone else got on their dash or hanging off the rear view??

Re: Vintage Accessories
RCA Model AP-1. Underdash player plays up to 14 45's(records), supposedly without skipping. People are restoring them and offering them for sale. 50's enthusiasts are buying them.

Re: Vintage Accessories
Nice stuff....I have a record player too, but it would have been used while picnicking in your '25 model. I'm sure it would have skipped if you'd used it while driving, but it didn't use any juice from the battery! Just wind it up and drop the needle onto the 78RPM disc.

Re: Vintage Accessories
Glad to see some others joining in! That NOS Compass and the tissue dispenser are pretty sweet... And Andy4639, it's always good to have a cooler at a car show, especially when it matches the truck!

Re: Vintage Accessories
Cool stuff! All I have is a keychain that was found with all of the original paperwork, receipts and manuals from a '72 pickup. I kept that stuff too... I used the keychain for the keys to my '67.

Re: Vintage Accessories
Cool tread,
Now the rear plate is fairly common however it is a correct pickup plate and from the county i was born in. The rear Arrive Alive plate is rather hard to find. I believe it was only issued to Florida Highway Patrol cars and was one year only. Back then Florida changed plate colors every year.

Re: Vintage Accessories
While not much of an "accesory" one of the favorite things added to my truck that helps date it is a parking sticker in the lower left corner inside of the windshield. I can't quite read for where its for but it has check boxes for the years 70-75ish I believe. Just a cool thing that helps connect the truck to history I guess.

Re: Vintage Accessories
Even though you can't see it unless you pull the passenger side sun visor down... it's an old vanity mirror with "service" and "travel" records... This was in the truck when I bought it. Still there...

Re: Vintage Accessories
I have a set of emergency reflectors in a red metal box I am going to put in my '67 truck along with an old metal 12v fan. Both of these items were in my dad's old big trucks, I guess around 1956. He use to hauls cars out of the St. Louis area.
I am thinking about getting a set of old drive-in movie speakers and hanging them on the inside of the doors. Not long ago I picked up one of the old CB removable slide mounts at a flea market for $2. I have an old CB I am going to put on it and mount it under the dash. Some may not like how I am building my truck, but that is ok with me since I am building it for me enjoy in my waning years, so to speak.

Re: Vintage Accessories
These are not Dealer Options but this style CB and Amp was used in many of cars and trucks in the late 70's'
I decided to use this Grant and Black Cat in the Circuit Rider. I also have a NOS Hustler Mirror mount CB Antenna that I will be using.

Re: Vintage Accessories
I have a 2 gun,gun rack in my 68.
And,there's an 8-track player under the drivers side buddy bucket(with 4 speakers). The center storage box had about 20 tapes in it when I bought the truck. Also has aftermarket cruise control. I've added a am/fm/cassette stereo next to the 8-track under the seat. I have a lot of small stuff like key fobs, bowtie stuff, few dealer emblems, etc. Mike./ |

Re: Vintage Accessories
Those do look cool at car shows... I've seen a couple that were painted to match the color of the car/truck and they looked real sharp
