Hood Latch help

I have a 56 short bed, I have replaced the hood latch with one that was in better shape than mine.
My issues are when I close the hood, there is a lot of play in it still and im afraid it will come flying up while driving. I ensured the springs where the same as the old one.
I even went to the original one just to feel safe.
Can some one take pictures of there hood latch showing all the springs and and tips on securing the hood. or if any one has changed modified theirs to something else.
