Seat differences leather vs cloth
Are there any differences it the actual seat quality between leather seats and cloth seats? Looking at a Suburban and I am trying to figure out if the foam or structure is better with leather.
Also, do all LT's have leather? I found a 2011 Suburban LT advertised with cloth. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Seat differences leather vs cloth
I changed my 2011 cloth seats over to leather and the u-pholstery person said the seats are the same, just the covering is different. We put a Katzkin leather kit on mine.

Re: Seat differences leather vs cloth
My LT came with cloth. I kinda wish it had leather because the cloth is really hard to get clean. Keep that in mind.

Re: Seat differences leather vs cloth
Thanks to both for the comments.
I had never seen an LT with cloth before and I have never owned a vehicle with leather. Still trying to figure it all out. When we travel we usually drive long distances and seat comfort means a lot. The 2004 2500HD with the 40/20/40 bench seat is ok, but not great. My wife just hates the seat so I am trying to do some research before buying the next vehicle.

Re: Seat differences leather vs cloth
I've done the leather swap on a 2008 crew cab and a 2009 Suburban. The seats are exactly the same except the covers. I paid to have it done the 2nd time, $1200 got factory looking Katzkins in the Suburban. Deal of the century if you ask me, it's not an easy job.
And no, all LT's do not have leather. My silverado was an LT2 (highest options before LTZ) and had cloth.

As the other mentioned, there is no structural difference...although I find the leather holds up better and is easier to clean. My friend with the same year truck as mine has the cloth seats and there are already tears and bare spots. My leather areas on my seats look new still.

Re: Seat differences leather vs cloth
There may not be a difference between cloth and leather seats, but there is a difference in leather quality and thickness. The factory leather is very thin, and wears through quickly along the side of the seat where you enter. The best leather I have ever owned came from an aftermarket outfitter that many dealers use. They are Classic Softrim a national company. You might check area to see if they have one nearby.

Re: Seat differences leather vs cloth
LT-1 is cloth seats...LT-2 is standard leather... LT-3 leather with heated seats ....LTZ has burl wood inserts and special dash??? This may not be correct but very close

Re: Seat differences leather vs cloth
Thanks everyone.
My main interest was in the comfort of the actual seat and not the covering. I would like more comfortable seats in out next vehicle, Suburban, and thought maybe leather was covering better seat foam. I think I am going to order new seat bottom foam for my 04 Silverado and try and get a few more miles out of it. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Seat differences leather vs cloth
Update
Sold the 04 2500HD and bought a 2012 Yukon XL with heated leather buckets. The wife thinks these are a much better seat. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Seat differences leather vs cloth
I was going to tell you if C O M F O R T is what you are looking for you can't beat heated leather, especially if you take long trips. I have a herniated disk in my lower back (L34) and I use the heated leather in all my cars all year round and just picked up my 2013 GMC SIERRA SLT CREW CAB 2 weeks ago and also ordered that with heated Leather. You won't be disappointed with your choice. Good luck with the New Truck and enjoy!
