Torque Converter question 91 Burban
5.7TBI /700R4 (TV cable and Governor)
Would anyone know how the tranny fluid gets in and out of the torque converter? My understanding is: Torque Converter (TC) is basically its own pump and when installed to tranny it slides into the tranny pump which I have read has 2 ports one which fluid is sent thru the tranny and another which opens under pressure to fill TC. When the tranny shaft goes into TC I don`t see much room for fluid to get in or out of TC // What am I not seeing? I have looked at torque converter and tranny videos all makes sense except I do not see how fluid travels from tranny to TC and back. Tranny Filter plugged solid burning up my TC// I found one small needle bearing in trany pan along with metal shavings. All which I think came from TC but how did they get from TC to the tranny without going all thru the tranny gears? Trying to decide if I should just get new filter and TC back in it and see what I got or should go thru the tranny. ANY Knowledge would be appreciated. |

Re: Torque Converter question 91 Burban
I don't know the way the fluid flows through the tranny and converter, but if the filter clogged up solid the tranny likely overheated and needs a complete rebuild. The R4 won't take that much heat. Sorry I can't give more specific info.
