So which one of you guys in this??

Just kidding. My parents are on a trip and spent the afternoon at a big antique & collectible fair near La Grange, Texas. Dad sent back a picture of this 'wall hanging' as they described it to him. He didn't pass along any info on price or who the heck decided to butcher what looks like a promising patina BBW truck.

Anyway, when he sent it I thought of this board first. Ya'll have a good weekend.

This bothers me deeply. I think I'm going to lose some sleep tonight.

You're not too far Tourqe... it's over by Round Top, but not in Round Top it's in Warrenton just down the road. Go put a boot in someone's butt. Ha ha.

Look closely, did that cab have the ultra rare seat belt shoulder strap? I have only seen one other if so. .. look at the drivers side thru the back window

I was thinking the exact same thing. If I ever found the body parts to make one like this, but the rest of the truck was trashed, I would definitely do that.

obviously, because someone wanted to. perhaps some one did it to mock somebody, to make a statement at one time, about how others worship these vehicles??????????
a mad wife. maybe the guys lucky; that wasn't the only thing she didn't hack. perhaps that was the 4th one he brought home and perhaps he was a back end man so perhaps he could get his view sitting in the living room before she left

If so then may she die from 1000 bites from vicious bedbugs with alcohol laced saliva while sleeping on a bed of rusty razor blades.

No love for someone with no regard for historical iron.

Re: So which one of you guys in this??

might have been me

no not really but looks like something I would do. there are two components of buying something like that, the first of course is availability and the second is price. its funny though that the buyer never seems to have the same price in mind as the seller.

The way I see it, and it may not be popular and I am not saying it to get anyones ire up either, is that they made tens of thousands and probably hundreds of thousands of these trucks and if I cant sell the parts even with "make offer", I throw them away. I dont know for certain but I would wager the guy using those parts for wall art probably paid more than the guys bemoaning them would have and probably did so in cash instead of "I'll be back saturday" or "I'll be back when I get paid".

I didnt get rich scrapping this 62 cab and 65 frame, but I got more than anyone offered.

next time parts are for sale, or whole trucks, make a realistic offer or even an unrealistic one, ala pawn stars or pickers or any of the shows that show its ok to automatically think the asking price can be divided by two, and when the guy says "ok", unfold the cash and make the deal.

just my cruddy opinion.

I see what you're saying joe. For me when you're dealing with a vanishing resource sometimes it's not the money though, it's the rarity of the find. Sure I'll cough up the dough but I'll turn around and give it away if it's going to someone that appreciates it.

If you're looking at a 62 now, look at how rare 55's are in decent shape and you'll get a glimpse into what we'll be going through in just a few short years.

There was enough there to give the Task Force guys nightmares too. I didn't get any pictures from him of 67-72 or AD stuff.

I have been wanting to cut the entire side off a 60-66 and mount it on the wall in my car port... not sure how the wife would feel about it though.
