Optima spectators - sema
Saturday Nov 3rd is the Optima Ultimate StreetCar Invitational. If you are in the southwest, and/or going to SEMA, you may want to add this to your trip. This year you can watch the event in person. It's 30 bucks for a spectator pass and an event shirt. http://optimainvitational.com/2012_invitational.html This year TRUCKS are in force. Smitty's c10, Summers and Sons C10 and Hill's Blazer are already invited. The Roadster shop should have their C10 as well. This is a rare oportunity to see these trucks go heads up with the best of the best. All tickets include pit pass. Come out to Parhump and check it out. Spring Mountain Raceway
BTW, no, I do not have invite yet. And yes, I really want one. If you want to see me there, go to Optima's web site or facebook and send them the message. I'll be there one way or another, competitor or coarse worker. ( much rather compete) Thanks guys.

Re: Optima spectators - sema
Is it because the frame is totally fabricated, or don't they care? It's getting to the point of just putting a truck body on a full race chassis. Nothing wrong with that but you could do the same thing with an AMC Matador body.

Re: Optima spectators - sema
OH NO!!! it's the old 'street car - race car' conversation. So, you tel me where the line is.
62 Impalla's did not come with a 5 speed. race or street? 65 SWB did not come with coil-overs. race or street? No Camaro ever came with enough room for a 335 tire. race or street? A Roadster Shop chassis is completely fabbed aftermarket. race or street? Is anything with a cage a race car? Or, if you fab a chassis with rectangle tubing it's street, and if you use round tubing it's race? I don't know the answer. the body of the truck is all steel. No carbon fiber. It burns pump gas in a 9-1 motor. It has lights, wipers, horn and heater. And as of today, a sterio. Is a Factory-5 Cobra kit a race car? (all tube) BTW, Optima Jim has an AMX with a coil-over IFS, 4-link, and LS motor 6 speed. I've drivin it and it's *****in. Is it a race car?

I hear ya. I don't personally care either way, I just wondered if that is why they have not yet offered an invite. Sounds like other vehicles are built similar to yours so that may not be the case. With your past record, it doesn't seem like you would need to earn an invite, it would be automatic.

Get a room at Red Rock Casino in Vegas (20 miles North of the strip) Its next to the back road that leads to Pahrump. I live 5 min from that hotel/casino and drive to Pahrump for OUSCI.

I know a lot of people are staying at the Silverton friday night. I just wanted everyone here to know about this and have a chance to see these trucks and cars in action.

Cool pic. I had a great time that day. A little nervous about the big track, but we did pretty good. Thanks, ... are you going this year?
