Saw this NOS set of bed rails on ebay going for ALOT of money, just curious who here has them or has installed a set of the GM bed rails.

If you have them, please post a pic. Im on the fence about adding a set of used ones on my swb.

Re: bed rails.....who has them?

I never knew they would be in that high of a demand. I bought a used set off a member here that need restoration, clamped them on for a test look and I am undecided if I want to add them or not. My truck will remain stock height, hubcaps etc so they kinda fit my "old man look" theme LOL.

Hoping for some pics of others and feedback.

You aren't going to lower it even a little bit? It would look sweet with some BFG's on the steel wheels and a baby 4/6 drop. Just sayin'.

Re: bed rails.....who has them?

Very nice truck , I think it looks good with the rails . I'm a little old school but to me if the tuck has the full chrome package then you need the rails to finish it off but to each their own I guess .

Re: bed rails.....who has them?

The first thing I did when I got my truck was rip those ugly old man rails off my bed. Bent and broken they lay behind the garage for 15 years. Not a day goes by that I don't want to travel back to that time and tell that ignoramus to slow down, take it easy, you don't like them now but some day your tastes will change and you'll wish you could put them back on.

Re: bed rails.....who has them?

I agree. I never liked them. My dad got a new squarebody every year and they were always fully loaded and had bed rails. My tastes have since matured(I am 39) and I really like the looks of them on a resto custom.

Re: bed rails.....who has them?

I have them on my truck. Sometimes I wish I didn't have them so I could have normal toolbox, but I think they add something to the truck kinda old school I guess.

Thank you. Do you have a pic without the rail? Looks good with the rail but I just want to see it without it lol.

Wow it looks great both ways. The chrome rails really pop on that blue.

Re: bed rails.....who has them?

Thanks for the help, since the woodgrain is missing and rails are scratched up, my plan is to have these powder coated silver and have a black 1/2" stripe down center where the woodgrain used to be. I think this will look good and match the black stripe thats on the all the side molding etc.

Re: bed rails.....who has them?

When I bought my '86 a few years ago, those and the cheap bug guard came off before I even walked in the house. I think the chrome ones look good, but these had a dang wood grain in the middle.

Re: bed rails.....who has them?

Just go get the luggage rack off a suburban in a wrecking yard and mount them to the bed rails. They're the same thing just without the cross bars.

Re: bed rails.....who has them?

Just want to go on record as saying I'm not a fan, never been a fan of bedrails.

So - it's a very subjective thing and people's choices differ (... I have a friend that says "...it'd be a helluva world if we all loved the same woman.").

Beautiful truck, Jimmy -

Re: bed rails.....who has them?

My truck had some ugly aftermarket bed rails on it. They are now sitting behind the barn with the rollbar that was in the truck too.

Looks good to me. Although my truck has the old ballz look that I like too. I would reapply some wood grain for sure!
