I want to add some tailgate chains to my 66.

It seems to me a hook is missing on the gate ? Anybody have clear pictures to show me the mechanism or explain to me what I am possibly missing ?

i believe that the hook has a plate on the back that is tacked welded to the interior of the tail gate panel, but not sure.

Open the gate and look on the ends for bolt holes. Those bolts secure two tabs for the chain hooks. One to hold it closed, and one to hold it 90 degrees open. See the lousy night shot below.

here's what they look like. they aren't spot welded, the outside bracket (in oem4me's picture above) is. the 2 bolts shown in oem4me's picture hold them in
