Dealing with original parts
Anyone still have original parts like ball joints in their trucks? Just cleaned about 3 inches of grime off the control arms and noticed my truck still has the original ball joints. It got me wondering how many other trucks are still ruining on original parts like that. Seem tight, what do you guys think from a safety perspective? Hate to remove original parts.

My whole front end on my daily driver is all OEM, as is the engine, trans and rear diff. I say if your not having any issues that I'd leave it alone.

my truck is still all from the factory even the brake master cylinder. Hopefully Santa is good to me this year so I can remove it along with the front drums during the winter.

my '66 also had original parts before we took it apart for 5-lug/disc brake swap...it drove just fine...my dad drove it 8 hrs. round trip so that we could use it in our wedding

Wow, I wasnt expecting to see this many trucks running on 50 year old from suspension parts. I know in mine, the following are original: Tie Rods, Ball joints, linkage, steering box and column, rag joint, spindles, brake hoses (lol).

Mine was all original too. BJs, springs, shocks, etc.
Cornering was pretty scary, so she is getting all new brakes and suspension, adding sway bars, etc. should bring it up to somewhat modern handling. Posted via Mobile Device

Unfortunately I have not gotten above 5 mph yet so I dont know how scary cornering yet, but maybe by spring :-)

yeah i just drove mine a few weeks ago to crusin the coast in Mississippi. drove well and ran good. It was about a 8 hour drive also round trip.

They were built tough, so they are still on the road and being used.
